This is the states of ‘the Americas’ and not the good ‘ole U.S. of A., it's in their best interest that the Falklands stay British, where would they base all them B52’s and B2’s if the sh#t hits the fan in S. America or antarctica?

And, in the future, the U.S. should pay for the use of any aircraft carriers (oops islands) and other British ‘assets’ that it needs. I propose something along the lines of stripping the U.S. of all her assets in Britain, including real estate and property. U.S. investments in Europe to be sold off, and to make sure that Britain gets paid, one of HM ships should be dispatched to pick up the payment in U.S. gold.

The U.S. must also transfer all her scientific and technological secrets to the Britain Also, Britain should demanded leases on the islands of Guam, Hawaii, American Samoa and Puerto Rico for the setting up of British military and naval bases.

Now THAT is how you treat an ally.
Whoa, easy killer. Nice to know you don't have a chip on your shoulder. If Britain needed to base any forces on US territory I'm sure we could accomadate you. After all, the German Air Force has a lot of people stationed here in New Mexico at Holloman AFB. It's not like you've asked and we said no.
Sorry May18, you must have posted that story while I was still typing. I've looked around and couldn't find if the US voted in favor of that or not. Just that the resolution was proposed by Argentina and sponsored by Brazil and Chile. But as far as this American is concerned, the debate over who the Falklands belong to was decided in '82.

Off thread I know but just want to say that Andy's new avatar, showing his nostalgia for days in 45 is far preferable to that Roy Rogers fan club one he had earlier, couldn't guess who it was under that hat, not.

Whoa, easy killer. Nice to know you don't have a chip on your shoulder.

Easy thar Pilgrim. That ain’t no chip it’s a crisp, and I used a near verbatim similitude to actual historical fact.

Now son, I’ve travelled them United States left to right and top to bottom, and nicer friendly folk you’ll not find anywhere, didn’t try to shoot me once which was mighty neighbourly. Hell, even got tucked into bed on occasion by some warmhearted townsfolk after a night of a whoopin’ and a hollerin’. No siree, people are as nice as mom’s apple pie, and any man who say different’s gonna get an ass-whooping, and any women who say different’s gonna get 5 three minute rounds in the Mud-Pit bar and grill, downtown Las Cruces NM (any Monday or Wednesday after seven). You may know it yer’self pard.

No my truck is with the Sheriff’s you’ll keep electing, and it don’t matter ahoot if they’re republican or democrat, ain’t no secret the sheriff’ll sell the limey’s down the river if it suits him. Even that’s fine, he’s just looking out for his own kin I guess. But I don’t have to like it, and what’s good for the Sheriff is good for the deputy, and if the limey’s can squeeze technology or dollars out of Uncle Sam then I say heck, put your brand on that thar steer and drive him to market. Because lets face it, the U.S. likes the limey’s today but tomorrow’s another day - or is that a Bond movie?

Now I’m sure your a nice enough hombre, and next-time we meet aroun’ a campfire I’ll tell you a story of lies, deceit, allies bought and sold and false-eleemosynary. Get some shut-eye son, we’ve a hard ride ahead of us.

The FI flag carries the Motto "Desire The Right" which speaks volumes.

The overwhelming majority of kelpers are staunchly pro British. Surely until this is no longer the case the status quo should be maintained.

These people should not be treated as pawns in a political chess game, they have been through more than enough already. Too many good people died on those windswept islands defending their freedom, let's not give it away now unless it is the will of the people.

Is this the bully boy tactics of the Yanks again? No wonder they are hated throughout the world.According to the Yanks if it is not done their way then you will suffer accordingly.Keep your big noses out America and mind your own business,or is it that there is oil in there thar South Atlantic, and they don't want us Brits getting in on the exploration for it.

100% of the Falkland Islanders and 100% of Gibraltarians want to be British and they will stay that way,it is the will of the people TONY are you listening. :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

G'day 21

I think you'll find that gramatically speaking, the words "Tony" and "listening" should never be used in the same sentence.

Emigrate?........

What a good idea, with a bit of luck and a following wind the wife and I will be gone for good this November.

Next Christmas we'll be on the beach, with a cold beer, warm sun, Pacific Ocean lapping the shore, that'll do for me.
Archie.

It is a geographical fact that the majority of countrys in the Americas are of "Latin" extraction. So the vote on this motion should not be a surprise to anyone who can count. I wouldn`t think ole Elmer would vote in favour of this motion for a single minute, thar boy.
Y`all come back now, reel soon y`hear

Any blokes on here that served down South? I'd be interested to hear their thoughts on the matter.

I heard in the news today, that America supports call for Britain to enter into negotiations with Argentina to give them back the Falkland Islands.
As far i as i've always known, the islands have been ours since the Brits found it uninhabited and settled there, and i don't think we ever took it them from the Argies, thepeople living there are British, they want to stay British and our troops have died proteting them.
Please anybody tell me of any info on the Argies claim to them, a bit of detail on how we came to have the islands and your thoughts on America's back stabbing!
it is just reassuring to know that the official British statement after the war in '82 was we would never give up the islands, and the government's latest response to America's plea was 'there will be no negotiations'
DAMN STRAIGHT

Is America putting it nose where its not wanted..... Or has some not got all the facts.
THE 33rd General Assembly of the Organisation of American States (OAS) has passed a statement of solidarity with Argentina's claim to the Falkland Islands, over which it fought and lost a war with Britain in 1982.

The statement, passed by voice vote as the OAS wrapped up its meeting today, calls on Britain and Argentina to resume negotiations over the South Atlantic archipelago as soon as possible.

The talks should have as a goal "finding a peaceful solution to this protracted controversy," the resolution said.

The islands, known to Argentinians as the Malvinas, were occupied by Britain in 1832, despite Argentine protests.

The statement of solidarity was proposed at the OAS meeting by Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister Jorge Taiana and seconded by Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia and many other delegations.
Well if Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Bolivia want to support Argentine, let them at the end of the day the Falkland Islands are British and they are going to stay British this also goes for Gibralter as well.

But this well only apply if we get rid of Tony and his government . And if we dont Tony will end up giving our island to Europe, the Falklands to Argentine and Gibralter to spain.

I hope that this is just some sick rumour, because this just CANT HAPPEN !

:o

The Falkland Islands are British, will remain British and will continue to be run by the British. In a democracy those of voting age have a choice as per Gibraltar (note the spelling again!) if a person has a choice to vote in a referendum or elect a council of ministers and the choice was to be decided by the people then a majority vote is all that matters either way. The people of FI will ne'er vote for the Argies power nor would the Gibraltarians vote for Spanish power. That is the status quo
