surely not an M4, they were only designated in 1994. is it not the colt XM117 or something?

and what do people think of hitman, eh? pretty groovy, just sneaking up behind someone and slicing their throat, or calmly walking up to a bodyguard at the door, bringing up your M9sd and planting a single slug in the guards forehead, catching the body before it falls on the floor, taking his clothes, sneaking through the rest of the building to find the target, bring out the pistol again and phut - phut phut, phut.

sorry, got a lil' carried away there...

Quite right peds, I was wrong about the M4, it's actually a CAR-15, sorry. I haven't played hitman yet. Mafia was quite good fun, but I guess I better not digress to non military games!

Soldier of Fortune 2 double helix, whilst controversial, is a lot of fun. Very gory. It's quite interesting seeing the effect of shooting the baddies with an M60, ich! What a mess.

what, they come apart and bleed heavily? ewwww...

the makers of ghost recon deliberatly steered away from that line of blood enactment, god bless em. they said "if you want to see limbs flying out of explosions and such, buy a different game."

a very crap game is C&C Renegade. a very good game is, although again heading away from military games, is GTA3. anyone got feedback on vice city?

Vice City isn't out yet on the PC, but I have it for PS2 :D

Its a lot like GTA3, looks the same, plays the same, just bigger and has bikes, but there still is a lot of extra missions, i.e. the main story missions is only 50% of the game!

Military games I like are Combat Flight Simulator (sssshhhhh!) and Rainbow Six series. Hitman 2 is a classic game, stealth games like that are the best.
There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count & those who can't.

They come apart, scream and bleed very heavily. Grenades blow all manner of holes in them. I shot a chinese terroist in the neck with a shotgun (in the game of course), and all the skin and muscle from the side of his head dissapeared and you could see all his teeth! Very very realistic. Especially good is the columbia mission. You fly in via Chopper, and join up with the USMC, get ambushed, kill lots of baddies, link up with more USMC and clear out a village, then evac in a chopper whilst blasting ground based baddies with the M60. Great stuff. Vice city is worth it for the bikes alone I think. PS2 only though, and going by the PC conversion of GTA3, if they bring it out on PC it'll probably be badly bugged.

bugs all round in GTA, amen. pity.

one of my favourite games to play in gta3 is to get a load of rockets and the launcher, then get a load of police after me, then go steal a fast boat. then just jump around all over the rocks, taking shots at the choppers as they appear. finally, drive the boat right up the beach next to the late salvatores mansion and steal the nearest car, then try and lose the police. really fun.

oh, and that Soldier of Fortune sounds a little twisted. maybe the programmers weren't loved as children or something.

Oh soldier of fortune twisted alright. It's enough to give you nightmares, or turn you into a psycho. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GODS...........uh oh, slight relapse there, must take medication.

No seriously, shouldn't really be talking about gorey games when the lads are out there doing it for real.

Medieval Total War has amazing battles in it.

Vietcong arrived in the mail today, It's superb, if you like the Jungle environment, lots of cover & concealment and clever Ai you'll love this.

http://www.vietcong-game.com/uk/index.html

The aiming system is done using Iron sights and you get to use a load of classic weapons, yon even chuck down your M1Garand and pick up the VC weapons.

Loads of ducking & diving, loads of swearing and plenty of atmosphere to boot.

I suggest you all go out and buy it today
