Reality is dawning

Post by Sisyphus »

The U.S. is sending another 90,000 troops. Not a moment too soon!! It looks like the planners have finally realized that this ain't going to be the walk-over they first thought it would be.

It's laughable to hear the debate about whether it's "going to plan" or not. Since when did any war go to plan?? Well, apart from Gulf War I. Don't the strategists read about battles like Agincourt, Cannae, Vietnam etc.???

I'm filled with horror about the idea of a post-Saddam Iraq. If they don't get it right (and why do I think they won't?? - see above) I can see Iraq being like a massive escalation of Palestine and N.I. combined.

I also have been concerned about this from the beginning, but the more I think about it the less promising it seems. What likely favorable scenario exists? That part of the world isn't exactly known for enlightenment and us staying and trying to govern the place afterwards is likely to be more dangerous than the war.The aftermath will have a tremendous effect on Arab-even world-politics for a long time. What would be the most positive outcome?

I think thats why blair is anxious to get the UN into iraq post war

Although to be honest ive no idea why he did what he did in the first place

But as pointed out, the country is at war, so its too late for debating that

Blair may want to get the UN involved, yet hes pissing in to the wind with that idea,G Dublya has no intention of letting that talking shop get involved with the running of his new oil rich conquest.

The Frogs and Herman had so many fingers in the Iraqi pie,the US have removed them, and they aint gonna let them stick em back in.

On the subject of the worst case scenario, the yanks are sweating neaters about the Syrians and Irainians getting sucked into the affray, not to mention the looming problems between the Kurds and Turks, all these countries have their differences, yet they all have one common bond, their ragheads and they hate Elmer and in particular G Dublya and they aint to keen on us either!

Oh and what if the Koreans decide to take a stab at the yanks under belly, emmm?me thinks a long cold spell could be in the air, gulp!!

I work in the emergency service and we too are getting the jitters about what the future holds for us in this country,I find it scary to see nbc suits and respirators tucked away in cupboard on our station. :o

It appears that Elmer is indeed thinking of biffing Syria, judging by comments made overnight. The Syrians have been supplying night vision kit etc to their Arab Brothers. The US is not impressed. The future, not worth thinking about. :o
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

I see Rumsfeld has also been making noises about Iran, too. :( Has the US gone mad?? Are they determined to start WWIII?? The words 'powder keg' come to mind.

Well im not a big fan of the BBC

But a program on bbc2 recently claimed to have copies of documents from some time ago where rumsfield wrote "lets get into iraq, and secure our future".

It may be false, but it made me think.

Scary times,

Rumsfeld is one big 'loose cannon' the sooner he's binned the better.

He'll be sending a warning to the Frogs next.

And as for the Canadians........give it time he'll pick a fight with them ifen he gets the chance.

He acts like the playground bully oblivious to the fact that the more noses he pushes out of joint the deeper he drops the USA and the UK in the brown stuff.

Steve, It is too cold up here in Canada for the US to invade. The first decent snow fall, they would all piss off home.

Aye - Andy.

What a team - Rumsfeld and Bush. I heard on the BBC today that Bush is a very religious man and that he believes he has a "divine calling" to attack Iraq??????????/// :( :-? :( :x :x

The man is a complete ignoramus. How on earth did he even get into a position where he could challenge for the Presidency????/ Oh, yes. That would be money.

All of a sudden Bill's predeliction for young interns seems infinitely preferable. Have there been any honourable US presidents in modern times. By honourable I should include intellect in the definition. Reagan might have been honourable but intellectual?????????????

I never had anything against Promiscuous Bill in the first place, he was a damn sight more intelligent that George W of the Jungle.

So he has a bit of totty once in a while, big deal. Shows he's got a dick. Now Bush, God talks to him. God tells him to do things...

I know who I would rather have in charge of the world's greatest nuclear arsenal.

In reply to Steve E comment on Rumsfeld, hes no just a dangerous loose cannon, hes also dangerously ignorant of military skills and disregarded the advice of general Franks,he was told to hold back until a northern force was assembled,is this not the classic double pincer tactic favoured by stratergist dating back for years??

I was also not surpised to hear that a senior officer from 42 had said that,"they(elmer)answered everything with a salvo of tank rounds,or a major bombing(this was pointed out earlier in one of our forums,)no wonder there are so many blue on blue incidents, and I am sure that we are going to see many more.

Keep em peeled Royal, youve got two sources of incoming, and the so called friendly sort has more clout!!!!

What bothers me is how our Generals and top Brass allowed this to go ahead without saying something...shit its our Lad's lives they are playing with and Rumsfeld is'nt even a bloody soldier. :(
Even I, as a GD bootie could see that they were over streaching themselves.........and now some Prat Elmer General has told the world that they are hold up for 10 days or so, running out of everything..... and waiting for re- enforcements......just hope O'l Saddam aint listning......what a bloody mess :o

Let's just be thankful the Iraqis have got no air force, outdated tanks and equipment, etc. Seems we'd really be up against it if they did. It's a different level of motivation when you're fighting to defend your homeland. Even if it is ruled by a nutter.

Bomb out all the infrastructure in the name of tactics and do'nt forget to secure the contracts to put it back together afterwards.Oh,and remember the Brit's,a few sub contracting crumbs will be a nice, friendly, tap on the head for Tony. Cynical or what.
