RAF 'Security'
RAF 'Security'
Its in the news today that a woman broke into RAF Leuchars and damaged a Tornado F3 that was in a hangar at the time. I thought the whole point of having the RAF Regiment and MoD Plod was to guard airfields and especially the expensive aircraft. To break in acrosss the perimeter fence and then get all the way to a hangar is a long way, and needed the security to be pretty incompotent for some joanna public to get that far. If she was spotted why wasn't she shot?? The F3s provide the air defence for GB and there are so few of the things, that they need all the protecion they need, if anybody attempts to damage them, they should be dealt with in a way befitting any other terroist, be it a mad raghead or some loopy peace protestor.
Is the paper the sun topper?? I am sure your source is true anyway? I too agree that the defence at some stations is a bit lacks. I thought that the hangers would at least be guarded due to the situation we are in at the moment.
The rock apes will not be brought in as the RAF police wll be used but perhaps they were having a night off, i do not understand.
i am also curious to understand howw she got to damage it. the fact that she found the hangers amaze me. i would have thought that the bulldog or firefly hangers might have looked important to her.

What aobut the bunch of fandans who wee lying on the runway at RAF Lakenheath? (Correct airfield?)
I am seriously considering MoD Police (boat troop really) and incidents like this are not going to attract me.
Commachio group weren't much better if I remember correctly - protest groups going in via canoe (stealing tactics from RM against RM security) and ripping bits off a nuclear sub before spray painting it!
The above incident may have happened before Commachio group took over security but I'm pretty certain it was after. Surely they control security on the water? Are the Royal Marine Commando's after all.

The sun? No actually it was reported on the BBC website, as far as i am aware a reputable source of news. In case you have never been near an airfield, a hangar is a very large building and easy to spot due to the aircraft being inside or nearby. I don't see how finding a hangar is 'amazing' they are bloody big objects in a flat airfield.
I hope the airfield security in the Gulf is a lot better, otherwise those Jerusalem battalions will have a great time.

The Raf police protect the bases from intruders, the RAF REGT is an agressive defence force, ie. attack them before they attack us. Our role IS NOT to walk around the perimiter all day (allthough we can turn our hand to anything if asked). The bases in the gulf will undoubtebly be better protected, the forward operating sites in particular will be untouchable, for that is the RAF REGT's specialist role, a role in which which they have never been defeated (despite being on operations every single day since WW11).

Tony, great to see you are still alive, despite terminal shin splints!
I believe you, but when were they ever attacked?????? And what operations continously, never, you've been had mate! Don't tell me that you believe Everything they tell you:roll:a role in which which they have never been defeated (despite being on operations every single day since WW11).
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Hmmm, so we meet again el prezidentae....
Hi rob, yes I do believe that. Where ever the RAF has operated ( be it a major campaign, or a single special forces flights) the regiment go. be it afghan to korea, sierra leone to NI, the regiment have had personel on live operations constantly. I havnt got figures on attacks, cant comment on that (when have royal been "busy" recently?
).
Oh, and "wink wink, nudge nudge you know who" has informed me of a new unit that is soon to be officially formed (allthough the regt have been doing it unofficiallly for years). "csar" combat search and rescue. A unit dedicated to rescueing downed aircrew. Watch this space pop pickers!.
PS. My terminal shin splints are now not so terminal, being just shin splints and not stress fractures
PPS. Met general Walker the other day (highest ranking soldier in the armed forces I believe?
) He came to look around our TG (trainee Gunner) recreational facilitys and medical/physio wing.

Glad to here the splints in your shins are improving Tony. I reckon the medication must have addled you! There is no way the Rocks have been operational every day since WW2, who was firing at them? Why? Sorry mate, it doesn't hold water. And now I'M BLOODY BITING, you chuffing apology for a crab!!

You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Whhooaoooo!!!
Who was firing? could be anyone from IRA to afghan ragheads? . No, Im afriad Im going with the rock NCOs and desk drivers (officers) on this one. Gunners have been on operations constantly, Its one of the regiments proud points. Just because 99% of the population havnt heard of the reg, or the "sun dosnt follow the regt's every move, it dosnt mean were not there.
Every single squadron of the regiment is now on operations (mainly in the gulf, although they have never left there since 91)
Would you have known that if I hadnt of told you now? Theres only a skeleton crew and the oggies (part timers) in the UK right now.
