Well, finished the book, and what can I say, its brilliant, a credit to the author, very hard to put down, but you don`t want to put it down, your on the exercise waiting for endex yourself once more, feeling the cold,wet, sleep depravation, hunger all the ups and downs of life as a nod, or in some cases, a junior marine. but whichever you were, you`ll definately be transported back, to those days we all earnt, the coveted, "Green Beret". And you get an insight to the police force to boot, I hope it did Simon some good getting this, or should I say trying to get this disorder out of his system, and if it helps just one more person to come to terms with it, its got to be good, so when is the second book being written?? cheers Simon :drinking:

Ladies and Gents,

I am lost for words in the way you have praised my work. I have sat many times and thought would people like Forced Out?

I want to thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and support.

I hope this book will bring back the memories and help others understand the way we tick?. I miss my time in the Corps like us all. I suppose I took it for granted at the time?

For those thinking about joining up?
If I had my time back Id do it all again. Its not easy getting your green lid but its worth it. You will become a member of a very elite family which is highlighted by ex bootys contributing on this site.

If you do go out and spend some of your hard earned cash, thankyou and I hope you enjoy it.

Makes for a refreshing change for a book, well written, not to be written by our friends from Hereford, at least we know from experience that this book, is the Truth!!

Tried to order it from WH Smiths.. We don't pre order books????

Round the corner to the Book Stop and odered it.

The bloke said when it had come in looks interesting but would not knock a Fiver off as second hand.

Sat down that night and read it finished it at 0130 hrs and the other bottle of wine.

Simon you took my "baton!" I left in Nov 85 as you joined in Sept 85. Shitty baton wasn't it mate??

I never did that much in training.... did I, if so I must have been enjoying myself so much that I have forgotten about it.

Had a few (lots) tears about various things but great.

Page 145/146 going on Dartmoor in jungle boots!!!! which idiot sugested the 30 miler?????

I'll order it from the library then you can pick up royalties... every one else do it please... Thank you

'Forced Out' not available in either W.H. Smiths or Waterstones in Plymouth. Grand-daughter has now ordered it from Amazon.com for me.

Sorry you had a wasted journey?
Its all to do with the regional buyers?
The problem is? If the buyer dosent like this type of book they tend not to buy/stock them that well?? Very frustrating at times
The more people who ask for it the better it is..
They should be able to order it no problem though!!!.
Amazon is a good source. Also try Blackwells online?

Amazon delivered my copy on Saturday, whilst I was away from home for the weekend, started reading it on the train this morning, unheated slam-door commuter train into London. Never noticed the journey or the other occupants of the freezing carriage but it was all too easy to remember with Simon the cold nights on the common or moor. Quite a shock when we pulled up at Charing Cross, looked up and around, buildings, people. Odd, for the last hour I had been cold, wet, miserable but determined, suffered the beastings, puffed and panted around the endurance course and felt the agony of strained muscles, heaving lungs and feet and hips rubbed sore as I set my sights on the end of Heartbreak Lane, I swear I could even taste the iron taste of blood in the back of the throat as I ran? back across the bottom field with a squad mate from 784 across my shoulder and the `oh sh*t' feeling as I realised I was suffering a bad day and wasn't going to make the regain. What my fellow passengers must have thought as I saluted dropping into the tank, hopefully the salute was only in my memory and not carried out.

In short ( so why in long at all then?) so far a great book, so very real in every respect, sorry Simon you will never match `McNab', too much fact and a lack of inventiveness and fictional bulls**t.

My copy arrived a while ago and was promptly hijacked by Mrs H.(she gave it a good review btw Simon!)
I started to read it two weeks ago but Australian building codes of practice and Health and Safety intervened, I`ve been trying to get me head round the differances.
If such a thing is possible, they`re even more boring than UK stuff ZZZZZZZ

We`ve had a long weekend away and I finally finished. I re read it on Sunday.
What I`d like to add to the many congratulations Si, is a very big "Well done, mate" for having the courage to write this book as an example of someone suffering from PTSD. I wonder how many guys recognised the symptoms in themselves?
Well, Si, you`ve only gone and done it

I now have a claim to fame and can say I`m in a book about the corps.
I was in B coy with "lets do a 30 miler even though we`re too old" Bywater
