Police Issue

Post by Beasta »

Been watching the news and seen this 14 day siege going on in London with the place surrounded by armed police. Didn't recognise the rifle that the police had. What is it?
Just thought id ask like :)

if you're referring to the pic with the sniper on the right and his 2nd with binos on the left, sniper aiming right and down, same question here.

Hi-tech looking rifle.

New police Issue is the HK g36.

http://www.hkpro.com/G36.htm

(searched at google and it came up, worrying what you can find on the web)

is that it?

Has been hinted as the sa80 replacement in around 5 years.

Goes 25k rounds between stoppages due to non cleaning.

If that is the replacement for the SA80 in 5 years it will make that expensive update program on the SA80 an even bigger farce, but if that is our new rifle then, pphhooooaaaaaaarrrrrr!!!!!!! :o :D

At only £800 quid a shot seems pretty cheap n all.

I' pretty sure that's a modified HK33 (replacement PSG1 style stock, short barrel), rather than a G3. If you look at his supporting hand, it looks far too close to the rear of the mag well to be 7.62, and the magazine looks longer than the G3 20 rounders (could be a 30 round mag, but I don't see why he'd accept the extra bulk).
Then there is the logic factor. The fact that he is completely exposed, not prone, firing from an unsuported position, with a small scope, and aiming out of alignment with his body, suggests he is a marksman rather than a sniper. And in law enforcement, snipers are generally the only ones who use large calibres for long range etc, marksmen are generally deployed in a number of positions around the target at quite close range to provide comprehensive cover so they don't need 7.62. All the self loading rifles I know of in the UK police are 5.56 anyway, the most common being the HK33, although the H&K G36K and Steyr AUG are also used in places.

Voodoo, lost in space, last seen in grey anorak and baggy jeans emptying contents of a thermos into an old mug. The old mug was the 1987 version of the Woolworths Xmas issue with the blue Royal Doulton slip finish. The thermos was manufactured by the Aladdin group as an upgrade on the 1979 aluminium birdwatchers special. His footwear was provided by Clarks Ranger series (complete with little paw prints and a tinny compass) and the anorak by Marks and Spencer bodyguard range.
Stop buying those mags, they'll drain your resources, go out and trap a pash!

No Tony, the Tartan model was taken out of circulation when it was discovered that Tomato Soup from Heinz, caused lips to scald when said soup was consumed direct from the container on windswept station platforms. Werthers original anyone?

Where does he get it all from????
Lets put a bounty (or a crunchie) on the wretch's (RP's) head!

Put us all out of our misery!!! I'll start the ball rolling with a shiny new sixpence!

Oggies for the 'last great yomp' (now theres a title!) hopefully sorted this week. Will need numbers at some point.

Apparently they stopped selling tartan thermos's with white lids in the NAAFI when some poor jenny mistook it for a vibrato.....................

oooopppsssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
