I join on the 7th, so i might see you on the visit to the foundation centre! ;)

There is a points system that gives each candidate a "risk level", it's done by computer, but don't worry about that.
Good luck!

If the thought of Lympstone and the ultimate prize doesn't motivate you I reckon you might be taking a slot away from someone who may make better use of it.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Mr. Parry might be right.

I had a few bad weeks where I really didn't feel like training, but you've got to give yourself a kick in the arse on those days and get yourself out there, listen to whatever music motivates you, imagine all the other guys going on prmc training and you sitting there on yer butt doin nothing, and if all else fails watch "Full Metal Jacket"!!, if that doesn't motivate you on your down days, nothin will. If it's only one of those short term lapses in motivation you'll probably be ok. The bad thing about training by yourself is that there is no PTI there screaming at you, like at prmc. If you don't train, you don't get in, simple.

thanx, I know this is what i want, and i motivate myself most of the time thinking about 'The Kings Squad'. Its just the running, but since reading your posts now and others experiences at their PRMC im gonna work my arse off when ever possible.

Also does anybody know much about the following speicalisations....i know its a bit soon to be looking into it but im confident.
1.Assault Engineer
2.Mountain Leader
3.Signals
4.Platoon Weapons

ive read up on them in the RM 'book' they give you at the careers office just want more info on what each 1 does after their specialist training etc...

thanx Ross

If you have got any motivation probs now, I wouldn't look beyond your PRMC :o

You need to sort that sh*t out right now - Try motivating yourself when you are cold, wet and pissed off on exercise on Woodbury Common etc. - I assure you, it is a real test of character

Even if you get in - Get to your 20th week and then start to think about what you might like to specialise in - The Commando course is far tougher than you can imagine at this stage.

It's nice to be confident, but you need to walk before you can run (Or run before attending your PRMC :P)

Good Luck :D

When running take note of car registrations, makes and colour as they pass, see how long you can remember them, clock the occupants, try and describe them to yourself. Look around at the countryside, notice any changes since your last run? Was that field ploughed etc? Look at buildings differently, look at unusual architectural features, pieces of stonework created as gargoyles etc. Meanwhile keep up the pace, if the mind is busy you'll be amazed at the distance you can cover before switching back to 'ain't this boring and tiring'.

Try and find some other fit ba****d to run with and vary your routes, times and surfaces (sand and mountains killers!!!). Otherwise go to your local footie/rugby club and ask if you can join in the training with them.

As for pushups do sets of 20 anytime anyplace and at least 100 per day. In no time you will be able to do s**t loads. Good old dips are excellent and also useful in estimating upperbody strength increases.

Running and most of the excercises you do are all mostly mental once you get into your training and reach a good base level of CV fitness and bodily (sp?) strength. Remember, train using an aggressive and explosive mental approach. Unless you are puking, you can run further, faster and harder. At the end of your run sprint at full tilt the last 200m, doing pressups and situps when you feel wasted, dig deep and grab two more. Train your mind to accept pusing that touch more.

Just remember if you are a lazy civvie and lack even the motivation to want to join then you will stand NO chance of getting past the PRMC.

aint this boring and tiring
sangar duty, OPs, painting and chipping, NBC sentry there is no end of them. The most important thing is as Rob said find a way to keep your mind occupied - whilst still concentrating on the job in hand.......

Motivation, its another word for self discipline - forget Steve Cs Full Metal Jacket advice (firstly its American, second its Hollywood, third its Crap) you wont find many video players at two in the morning in the middle of Dartmoor or Sennybridge, when your dog tired, freezing cold, soaked to the skin lying on your gut waiting for the next thing the training team are going to throw at you, or perhaps not tonight!

Get your head straight and good luck, if not give someone else the place now.

i found that when i took a small radio out to listen to while jogging i didnt even notice how far id run. All i did was listen to the music sing along to the stuff i knew and before long id done my circuit so if running bores you try that!!
