It seems that the guy I spoke to at the Daily Mail was a minor Scoop who did'nt have as much clout as he let me believe, hence there being Nowt in the letters for yesterday or today and no blooming article....sorry lads but I did try?

Small story Re Gibraltar

Post by Mike »

Sometime shortly after WWII the camoflaged Queen Mary or Elizabeth (it matters not which) was steaming past Gib on the way to the easetern Med.
Duty RO on top of the rock flashed the norm "What ship, Where bound", some minutes later he repeated the call with no reply, this carried on until the vessel was about to disappear over the opposite horrizon, when the ship replied by lamp, "What Rock"..... 8)

I note that Mr. Peter Caruana, Gibraltar's first minister, has suggested that he may hold a referendum on Gibraltar's sovereignty, thus pre-empting any agreement between Britain and Spain.

Mr. Haine, European minister reportedly stated that they would not recognise any referendum that they, (Britain/Spain) had not helped organize (MANIPULATE MORE LIKELY).

Is this the democracy that we all fought for?

Now Blurr has come out and said that the government would not recognise any referendum about the sovereignty of Gibraltar, as the people would not have sufficient time for a balanced debate so the result would not be sound. (I think that should read not be rigged).

Now if that isnt political clap trap - would anyone else like to self determine this government, but to make it fair we'd give them an SA80 each!

The Final Solution

Post by Mutley »

If this goes on, the only option I can see for the people of Gibraltar is to gain independence. Then there would be no problem with sovereignty or self determination
