Have you read about the USMC Memorial Club in the latest Globe & Buster ?
Wouldn't it be great to have something like that in this Country for serving and ex-Marines and their families ?
Something that not only is a living memorial that we can all be proud of, but also something that is value for money for members.
I am sure in this day and age that we could obtain Lottery funding/ Grants to help pay for a lot of the expense.
I also know that every ex bootneck in the land would help with fundraising if they thought that we could end up with something as good as the San Fransisco club.

Any ideas ?

Basically, for thoese of you who haven't read the article, it is a large, good quality Hotel in San Fransisco. The ground floor is a mini museum & gift shop.
The rest of the floors are a restaurant and bedrooms.. again, good quality, including suites.
The most important thing though is that anyone in the Marines " family " gets special discount rates, and it is something for all members and ex members of the Corps to be proud of.
I imagine it to be an up-market version of the Union Jack club with a Marine theme.

Its a matter of logistics really. Our Corps strength 4-5000, their Corps strength 150,000 plus(?) ergo 30 times as many "veterans" as us. They can afford it, we cannot. Do not expect the Lottery fund to help, they are busy sponsoring IRA propoganda films (Bloody Sunday) and lost causes like the Dome.

OUCH! The truth hurts Muttley, is that Paul (M)Uttley ex-sigs, if so, hope you are well. The idea is great, but phrases like woodpeckers, banyans and Sherwood Forest spring to mind!!
