That report pisses me off.
The osprey body armour MAY take multiple hits, BUT its the plate that takes the hit, not the green soft armour underneath. Now, when you take away the soft armour and just wear the plates it is an effective bullet stopper AND a cooler option in 50 degree heat. WHY are people STILL singing this flawed piece of kit's praises. Its too hot for the operational environment we are working in, hence the reason why everyone in PF has got their own Plate carriers which just takes the plates and has stripped the green soft armour totally down so we only put it on when we go into high threat areas.
I feel for the lads doing 12 hour foot patrols in the green zone in the middle of the day with the osprey on. I suppose you might get used to it, but i refuse to wear the shit.
Anyone else think the osprey sucks? The plates are good, if not a bit heavy but they stop multiple hits so i can accept the weight. But the green soft armour is just the same as the old COMBAT BODY WARMER.

Para beat me to it. What the hell have 170,000 9 mil rounds been fired at? I can't believe there is that much CQB going on. And I didn't think the Sterling SMG was still in usedavo141 wrote:

Not a clue where they can use that many! SF use the MP5 which is 9mm i believe but not that many surely in a theatre such as Afghan, i'd have totally guessed they'd have gone for something of a bigger caliber...
Still a lot more than the '0' rounds Des Goon Predicted....tit
