A.B.F. weekend

Post by STAND UP HOOK UP »

going to an airborne event in ripon on saturday, meeting up with a couple of lads who we havent seen in years, one has even flew over from the states, we got talking about everyone meeting up on a regular basis, not your official shirt and tie reunions, but just to get pissed, tell the same old storys and basically just to have a good time with like minded blokes. Then we gor round to talking about A.B.F day, ? what a cracking time that was for all. old and bold, every one associated with the reg, surely its a time to bring it back, especially with what the blokes are up to now, any thoughts. they have one in dubai, surely they should have an official one at home.

I think since the split up of the Bns after Aldershot the ABF day was never the same.
The tendency now is to have Bn Reunions, I attend one in Feb 08 for
1 Para and I believe 3 Para held a similar one in March.
I do agree that there should be a combined one like there used to be.
Where would they hold it now?

It is a shame that it died a death when the Bns left Aldershot. There is Colchester Military Open Day, in June or July (not sure which), which is usually a good do, but not on the same scale as ABF.

There is also the Aldershot Military Show, which is on the first weekend of July. A lot of the older sweats use this as an excuse to have an unofficial ABF day, ie get together in the Traf and get lashed up.

Sweet! :drinking:

Stand Up Hook Up, as regards the 1 Para do, we were there from Friday to Sunday/Monday. The only time that was collar and tie was Saturday night which was not obligitory, most of the time was spent in t shirts /sweat shirts
althought you would be expected to wear them with 1Para Reunion Club on them  otherwise the ladies would have nothing to do with you.
Looking forward to next year already.
