Application Sent - Nothing heard

Post by robbiedont »

Afternoon :)

I sent off my application via the Army website on the 12 February, but to this date have received nothing in return. Having spoken to a guy I know, he suggested that its quite likely I will never hear anything?

Clearly I need to pop down to my local recruiting office, is it best for me to book an appointment, or just turn up?

If I do go in, how prepared for an informal interview should I be?

Thanks

Oh and it should be said that the website said I would hear back within 2weeks.

Myself and my girlfriend both applied on the website but also got no reply. We went down to the AFCO and they advise it was not worth applying on the net. We re-applied in the AFCO and as soon as we gave the application form back, the BARB test was booked the same day for around a week later. I hope this helps.

Give your AFCO a call to make sure they are open and ask if you can go down to start applying. Worked for me :)

Isn't modern technology great! Makes you wonder how many potential recruits are lost?

Maybe it's a deliberate ploy to weed out the internet appliers who can't be bothered to get off their arses, when they haven't heard anything after 2 weeks, and walk down to their local office!

It's not so easy when you work full time, but I shall be booking a day off to do it...

Nothing like eyeballing and pressing the flesh. It'd definitely be worth going to the careers office and talking to them direct.

I work with e-mail almost as my main tool every day. Some people just don't respond well to two-dimensional media. Thankfully, I have got to know all of the folk in the various HQs and how they operate. If their office is close enough and the issue important enough, I'll often just show up on their doorsteps (usually unanounced, but after amking sure they're there) and it's amazing the positive results I get 8) . Funily enough, after they've put a face to a name, my e-mails to them don't get ignored anymore.

Best you both don't apply for any airborne type jobs as she'll expand at alltitude, fart and shoot out the door before green comes on.
