Hmmm.... oh dear.
There is no fear, there is only the force.

Do or do not, there is no try.

I want to blow things up and kill things, have looked into 4 para, rmr, raf reg res, and other regiments. I live in Burnley so whats the nearest and best, would being a reservist change my life for the better?
Go on the Army website and look under TA. There's an interactive map that'll show the TA units. You'll find similar online resources for other reserve branches.

On a more important note, though: given that, as you say, you are about to be a father, is this the best timing? No problem wanting to get out and do a bit, but (assuming this is your first child) your world is about to turn upside down and will never be the same again, so you should probably be giving more thought to that than getting your jollies on the weekend. It's hard enough being an equal partner in raising a child when you're working full-time, without dissappearing on weekends, too. What happens when you come home knackered on a Sunday night, knowing that you've got to get squared away for work on Monday morning and the Mrs, whose had a gut full of the new little darling, just wants to dump him/her in your lap and escape (or possibly even sleep) herself? At least sit down and have an (honest) conversation with your other half, before you decide to pursue this.

No idea who that is. But any soldier whose life is not properly balanced is not firing on all cylinders in his job. Hence the principal of leadership that says, "Know your troops and promote their welfare."

Thanks for your input, though!
