I hate  these 'celebrities'who further their own careers on the back of this sort of stuff.

On the other hand, if it brings to the forefront what the lads are having to go through, then it can't be all bad.

But there again, does it need to be a 'celebrity'?

Any volunteers from 'the likes of us' who'd be prepared to do the same thing/

Of course!! And my bet is that the impact would be more than from any prat celebrity whose main objective is to promote his/her career - despite any protests to the contrary!

Sisyphus,
RK isn't my favourite celebrity but I can think of better and safer ways to further/showcase his career (have a fight, take drugs, get caught with a prostitute).
With regard to one of us doing it and having a larger impact (reaching the TV addicted British public), there is no contest. Despite what you may think of him, he is famous you are not, not even on here, you are infamous!

The thing that shows these guys really have a set on them, is the fact they cant carry a weapon. I havent been in a firefight before obviously but I would assume when the rounds start coming in all you want to do is send some back. But being in the situation of being shot at and not being able to do anything other than lie down would be much worse?

The reason for Ross Kemp is because his on gangs series is very similarly done has a good following. So he was in the best position to get this program out there; I would not be surprised to find that many of the viewers were people only watching due to him/his previous work. And at the end of the day would people here have volunteered, yes; but then so did Ross Kemp? He was able to do it due to the influence he has built up for himself with Sky etc. and the fact they know he will brign in an audience. You haven't built that up, so you don't get to do it; neither have I, so neither do I ...

Its just a shame its not on bbc1

never been a fan of rk but if it gives a few ppl a better idea of what its really like great! and he has taken much of the risks as the lads so good on him.

would like to see a few politicians putting themselves in the firing line before they open their traps. Maybe they would wind their necks in a bit if they did

Lets not forget he is ex para regt, and was one of the first blades to serve in the regiment and except a split arse into his troop, the one of only two troops in th regiment at them time with an OC and a CO, by my count the SAS consisted of about 12 blokes when RK was in it and their operational commitments were huge

So lets not dis the bloke he is a leg end and Ive been dogging with Phil!
