Medical Operations and Joining...

Hey guys basically i was wondering what the rules are about having surgery before you join, not like anything major like heart op's or anything but it is technically classed as plastic surgery i beleive. I have a mild case of Unilateral Gynecomastia and was thinking about getting it removed.

Basically I dont have the money to get it done privately and was gonna do it through the hospital which means it would go on my medical records. And the last thing i need is more problems before or after i go to the medical before hopefully joining the Paras. So i was wondering what the rules are and how this woul affect joining. Its not like a broken bone whic takes months to heal and rehab, your just ment to have a few weeks off to let it heal then your back on your feet so to speak.

So if anyone know about this area it would be great if you could help cos I have my heart set on joining this year but this little case of Gynecomastia is annoying me and I wanna get rid of the thing, Not completly cos im vain but things like this piss me off to be quite honest. Cheers!

My search indicates the following Synonyms and related keywords: male breast enlargement, female-like breasts, feminization, male feminization, mastectomy, liposuction-assisted mastectomy, reduction mammaplasty, male breast lesion, male breast abnormality, male breast anomaly, feminized male breast, breast mass, male breast mass Eetc etc.

So before we all have an inappropriate 'titter' ('scuse the pun) at Arran's expense I think Arran should be reminded that none (very few) of the posters on this site have a good enough medical background to provide Arran with a sensible answer ......just 'tit jokes'.

Arran, it probably depends on how much tissue has to be removed and whether it is 'fatty lump' or 'bits of gristle and muscle'. If it's the latter it may seriously affect your performance on the selection fitness weedout. Suggest you ask your surgeon about post-op fitness and how long before you can take weights etc.

There's guys serving with far more lumps snipped of their bodies but that's more as a result of service and also it's 'once they're already in....'

Wel its only a slighly small lump which is to my reading knowledge the gland or something that has swollen due to hormonal changes by my reading. I aint got one giant tit or anything but i figured if i can get it removed, why not? From what I know you are back in action within 4-6 weeks after the surgery, they dont scoop out the muscle just the lump etc. Just thought I'd ask as i thought the type of surgery would be very dependent on getting in.

Anyway its all over and Im back with the Blonde one from last year, no not the nurse, the other one. Lol no juice apart from the orange kind. Think its due to having raging hormones and mad growth spurts and my body decides to add mass.
