whats this about a new two day thing before RAF Halton

Post by rach7 »

I have been informed by a trusty source well sort of trusty haha that there is a new two day thing that you have to attend before you go for your nine weeks!? its basically (apparently) so that they can show you around Halton and they make you do another fitness test how true is this?

From what I've heard, the Navy have a similar thing. I think it's a sort of "easing in" process, so that Halton isn't a complete shock to the system and you kind of know what to expect.

I'm sure somebody who has joined up recently will reply.

Cheers,
Neil

You also get issued a cotton wool jacket and a new post has been created at Halton as OC Hugs & Tissues.

Sounds pretty legit to me, you do 2 days in the army seclection programme. Its basicly just to see if your 'soldier' material before you enter basic training (costing money, time & effort).
The Army one consists of a medical assessment, team activities, fitness/strenth tests etc etc followed by a final interview to see if you eligable for phase 1 training. Its a pretty good experience too so dont get too caught up on it.

yup the today thing i have just getin my letter for, its called the pre rtc, basically what it consists of is going down to halton for 2 days, they test your fitness with the bleep test and they issue you with your service boots, i suppose its quite good really the idea behind it, you go 6 weeks before your due to start halton for real you get to meet the people that your going to be with for your 9 weeks its basically you just being familiar with what things are going to be like when you get there! any ideas when your due to start?
