HMS Raleigh intake - 1st July

Post by tyrrell_matthew »

Hi there,
Is anyone booked in on the July 1st intake to Raleigh - specifically Clearance Divers?
Will there be any chance to get extra phys time to prep myself for Horsea while i'm at Raleigh?
Any help would be great i.e tips for Raleigh etc...

Cheers fellas

Hey mate I went in as a clearance diver but had too come out for reason. Anyway before I was at Raleigh I was told all the divers were going to get extra fitness, turns out we didn't. You will hardly have any free time during basic training apart from sundays. After basic training you will do your RIB coarse were you get quite alot of time to go to the gym and there is planned fitness when you do seamanship. All the advice that I can give you is just get yourself fit as possible before Going to Raleigh.
If you are determined enough to do something, then you will succeed at anything.

As long as you are fit enough to pass the DPFT you'll be fine. The phys you will be doing in your drybag will be completely new to you and the only way that it isn't going to be bloody horrible is if you have done it before and have the right techniques.

Most people fail the diving aptitude because they wrap their tits in or get "injured". So don't give up, stay switched on and make sure you stand out from the crowd (by working your socks off, not by being gobby).

Good luck fella
If it doesn't hurt it's not worth doing!
