I'm an ASOP, totally different to WSOP.

However, with my trade i have had some exposure to WSOp's SAR, in my opinion it's one of the branches i have most respect for, however, you have to be prepared to see some horrific things. I would NOT recommend aiming for SAR on your first tour of duty, that's also providing you are streamed into Crewman, as WSOp has 4 sub divisions within it, which you don't really have any say into which one you will be streamed for.

I'm learning foreign stuff for another year, then off to do sneaky things. Apparently!

We've got a Wild West night in the mess tomorrow, just practising my whip action....

Dont forget, as has been mentioned above, that you cannot simply apply for SAR. Your suitability for different roles is measured, you may end up being streamed into fixed wing aircraft, and never even touch the rotary wing stuff. So just remember, you apply as a WSOP and they branch you off into your best suited role.

Er, no, you don't apply as a pilot. That's only if you want to be a pilot.

We're talking about Weapons Systems Operators here...

Everyone seems determined to confuse scotland123!!

I do beg your pardon, i knew what i meant
Yes, quite right, you do apply as a WSOP, but as stated, they then stream you.
Sorry for any confusion, was just thinking of pilot route because i wanted to be SAR pilot, but learnt this was not something you could simply apply for.
