CEFO

Post by Irish Rover »

Hi, im looking for some advice from the experienced infantry heads here with regard to my CEFO, i just cant get it to fit right and comfortably. Its the standard 4 ammo, water bottle, utility and a.n. other pouch. Im fairly tall and when i loosen the straps at the shoulder to get it around my waste its very loose at my shoulders and back and if i tighten it it creases me. Its also flapping around all over the place and ive been told to use bungies to fix it but dont have a clue what to do with them. I need to get my kit in order or its going to kill me on battle pt and annoy me on the ground. Any advice here is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Irish Rover

Are you a cadet? Is there not an NCO who knows what they doing that could help you?

For it flapping around, put the pouches closer together so there tight then bungee or use a utility strap on the back to keep it together.

When i was doing OpTag confirmatory training, one of the straps inside my 'whats it called' bergan was broken and on a 12 miler it just went clink, clink. Pissed me off, couldn't exchange it either, as there was apparently only one for each bit of metal!!!

LOL, I know the british army and its training equipment :x , wouldn't suprise me if this specially designed bergan to keep 'the kit' cool was better than being used in Iraq and Afganistan, i couldn't put clothes in or anything to stop it rattling as we had spot checks to check if nothing else was in it as its only made for 'whats it called'. The snatch's in Iraq are in shit state, and we have a few brand new ones to train with. Would be put to better use in theater as the threat on salisbury plain and brecon is an enemy that never dies or kills you :-?

Can't you just buy a bergan from a supply specialist? Or do you have to make do with what the army gives you? I've heard stories of soldiers buying new boots, etc before going out to Iraq/Afghanistan.

You can exchange your bergan if its broken.

Some blokes buy their own boots because the army ones perhaps dont fit them too well or they just like looking ally in a pair of jungle boots around barracks. My issued boots are quite comfortable, but i prefer to wear my own boots.

Not with these bergans, there not normal ones you get issued, there designed to keep something cool in hot weather, and you cant put anything else in it as the equipment will overheat.

I'm too cheap to buy gucci boots, that £120 goes on ale :)[/quote]
