To be honest prison isn't an option for him, absolutley agree the uprising while he is alive won't begin to subside until he's gone.
The only 2 options for progress is 1) let him out or 2) Hange him.
Me personally, let him out, put him back in charge, there was no point suicide bombing him cause he was always thought to have so many doubles. If you got the wrong one, bang your village has gone, unfortunatley that's the kind of logic those people understand.
It hasn't got a chance in hell of happening but I'd like to see it.

I think he's largely irrelevant to the insurgency. He seemed to be when troops were still hunting for him, and the violence never abated.GreyWing wrote: To be honest prison isn't an option for him, absolutley agree the uprising while he is alive won't begin to subside until he's gone.

Agree that prison isn't an option, however.
As to the strong man / dictator proposition to restore order, we had this exile, a dentist I believe (shades of "marathon man") in charge for a while, and that couldn't work because he really had no base and had to share power. So...
Close the book on Saddam and get on with a way to "resolve" the situation.
