Just wondering if anyone can tell me what the score is with specialising in the marines how long do you have to serve before you can put in for a trade like vehicle mechanic or pti something like that? and what do you have to be to go aircrew?

If you put in for VM you will need to have a NAMET of at least 5,5, if you put in for VM on completion of Traing you would be loaded on to the next course as the Corps is mega short of VM's,PTI's you would need to put some time in first as it is only open to CPL's and above to that end you will need to have a B RORRS, pass the apptidude.

Not being funny, but thats a long way off for you just yet, concentrate on Passing out first.

Do you have to be an NCO to be a sniper and have to be chosen or can you pick to do the course when you,ve got your green lid?

You just have to be pretty switched on and be recomended by your bosses to do the course. Or at least you did once.

When you do the course your fieldcraft has to be top rate. And also take it as read you are going to be doing a lot of sitting in the middle of knowhere freezing your backside of whilst at the same time noting everything that happens within your Area. Apart from the Sniping bit you will also be used to man Covert OP's. So get used to using a shovel when preparing your Hide.

Only 3% of applicants to the Royal Marines earn the right to wear the green beret.
