Fractured my ankle playing football

Post by Sammye »

Hi guys,

In plaster and on crutches for 6 weeks. happen a week and a half ago :(

I am currently applying to try and become a Royal Marine Commando and am due to have my psychometric test on the 23rd.

Just wondered if anyone knew if there are any time bars to somebody who wants to join but has just suffered a fractured?

Thanks

Cheers guys, phoned the careers office and they said I could postpone the psychometric test until I was able to do it. They didnt say anything about it affecting when I could get into the RMC.
Bit worried as I have read that it will take three months until the bone reaches 80% of the strength pre-break. My 28th birthday is in July and I've read that I need to have done the PRMC before I'm 28.

Sammye, I would have gotten the psychometric test and the interview out of the way as you dont need to do anything physical in these, as there is a lot of waiting around to do before you get a chance to do PJFT and PRMC, so you could use the time while your ankle is bust to do this. I did my psychometric test in nov and i have just done my PJFT today. so my PRMC will be in march I think. If you need to do things quicker because of your age then i wouldnt hang around mate.

Sort the psychometric out now and any other admin.
Don`t worry about the ankle worry about getting your PRMC done May or June because you have only got one shot .
There`s plenty of info about the course on here, read it. Use search.
You are unlikely to damage the ankle during the course. It`s about determination rather than ability. Find other ways to increase stamina other than running.
It`s a pity that our plums rated MA is away at the mo, he would have given you some helpfull advice.
Like "take two Brufen and fark off"
Hope that helped and best of luck mate
