It won't be 2 years of troop commanding it will most likely be 1 year and not even a whole tour as for some strange reason they change troop commanders half way through a tour, probably to spread experience more. Then it will most likely be a stint at Lympstone teaching nods how to wash their balls....

SFSG and FPG

Do you have to be in FPG to do SFSG?

If so is it a case of applying to go to FPG and staring at submarines until the opportunity arises?

I think you should go RMR. How old will you be if you pass out, 27, 28? I personally would find it very difficult starting a new career at the bottom of the pile at that age when you don't exactly know what you're getting yourself into. I think it is in phase two you don't have to sign in anymore on a saturday night, I can't really remember. You do work a fair few saturday mornings in phase one aswell. You can get LWEL taken off you aswell, we got the one after Hunters moon replaced by a mud run, bivvy down bottom field, kit muster...

Trying to get RLC to step in for logs would be a good idea because practically no one likes being a driver. The downside is that there are probably very people in the RLC who actually have the ambition to do the commando course, most of the ones down South Cerny seem a bit mongish, it probably would...

There's been in the past whole troops that have all gone to FPG.

I know a lad who requested 42 lives in Weymouth and got 45, so you pretty much go where you're told, however, a lot of people do get their first choice.
