Some of the comments posted above reminded me of one of my favourite pieces of graffitti: Seen on a wall in Limassol (Cyprus) shortly after the Turks had invaded the island in 1974... The Yanks had resolutely refused to stand up for the democratic rights of the Greek Cypriots in the UN:

That bit about lost kit reminds me of the time when 40 Cdo were being flown ashore.....forget where, but it was hot and dusty. When they were flying the TQ of A coy's trailer ashore it started swinging, so the pilot cut it loose, dropped in the oggin, never to be seen again. The TQ duly sent in his ...
