Most artisan trades in the Engineers do combat engineering before their trade, alot don't touch their trade for years and then it comes up and you're expected to know everything about it. On tour it depends on the type of tour your unit is doing and how good you are at your trade. Why not branch out ...

Would'nt the best route to get into diving be the quickest? So perhaps a shorter phase 3 trade would be ideal, something like ME Driver. I talked to an ex-royal engineer diving instructor about the process, sounds tough:

I understand that you have to do 50 sit ups min. in 2 mins when joining the army. are this assissted, with a bar/bench etc or unassissted cos i can do 50 with a bar but not one damn unassissted one.

I have my ADSC at Lichfield on monday 15th Dec, i was reading about which station i should be at and it seems they pick you up from Trent Valley station but on my rail warrant it says Lichfield city. Did my recruiter put the wrong information in on the warrant or should i just get off at city ...
