Excellent.

Does anyone know at what stage the security clearance is done?

I.e. Interview, PJFT, PRMC, etc.

When it comes to the referees, is it ok to put down your current employer, even though you have only been with them for a month?

Can you request that they not be contacted until an offer has been made?

That came out wrong... is it because people are put off by the ads, or because it's much easier to go to Uni instead?

I remember originally applying back in 2005 and there were a fair number of ads on TV for the Royal Marines. The local AFCO was moderately busy and my application went quite quickly.

This time round, each time I have been to the AFCO it has been empty and the chief petty officer has been fantastic ...

Not seen a recruitment ad for ages

Hi,

Am I the only person that hasn't seen a Royal Marine recruitment ad in over a year?

You see all these Army recruitment ads, but none for the RM's.

Have the RM's hit recruitment targets this year, or are they still short?

Documentation for application

Hi,

I'm putting in a new application for the Royal Marines and it's asking for National Insurance no, passport no, etc. My only problem is that I can only provide proof of my National Insurance no and Birth Certificate no, because my passport is out of date now and I've lost my National Health card ...

Hi lads,

Do you know when the next intake after this one is for Manchester?

I want to get started as soon as possible and I understand that I have missed the September intake.

Could you also point me in the right direction for full details on the training and what time is required to complete it ...

3wks Training Programme for Basic

I've just sorted out a training programme for the next three weeks, when I am due to start basic training for the Royal Signals. Unfortunately, I have been unable to train the past few weeks with injury, and before that, shin splints. I would like any feedback possible. Hopefully, there are some ...

Don't even get me started on needles, very bad experience with them

I'm joining the Royal Signals, but I scored a 8:57 min 1.5 miler at RSC. I've been injured since and it looks like a long recovery at the moment, so I'm very concerned about the fitness requirements for basic. I start basic ...

So thats what I have to looked forward to during basic :o

Does anyone know what happens during the first few days of basic? Is it mainly admin or are there physical tests, etc? I'd like to get a general idea of what happens during the first few days.

Also, I have several friends who are at ...

TBH, I've never had a problem with chaffing either, but that tip will still come in handy, just incase ;)

Anyway, I've gone and twisted my ankle, so I'm unable to run. Does anyone know what type of fitness I need to be at for basic training, or will they build me back up?

EDIT: Sorry, I meant ...

Thanks for that list, Jobag. Theres a few things on there I didn't have on my list, which are now

Anyway, I now have my start date for November 21st, so not long to prepare now. It seems like I have so much to do until then.

Recruit Training Kit

I'm starting to collect the essential items ready for recruit training. I have all the items listed under essential items in the booklet provided to me at RSC, I just need to get a decent iron, boot polish and a few other items. I'm really looking for advice, tips and a suitable army surplus dealer ...
