So thats what I have to looked forward to during basic
Does anyone know what happens during the first few days of basic? Is it mainly admin or are there physical tests, etc? I'd like to get a general idea of what happens during the first few days.
Also, I have several friends who are at various stages in the army. I was chatting to a few of them and they were telling me that I don't want to enter basic too fit, as it will actually go against me later on when they expect you to improve. Is this true?
I completed RSC last week and have only managed two 30 min runs when I injured myself, so I am unable to train anyway. What type of fitness do they expect you to be at when you start basic? My 1.5 miler at RSC was 8:57 min, which will be difficult to maintain with an injury and so close to basic.
Anyway, well done lads

IF it is bad to be too fit you could 'coast' for the first bit.Ayrey wrote:So thats what I have to looked forward to during basic![]()

And as long as you do fitness training that doesn't interfere with your injury (what is your injury) eg. crosstraining machines I dont think it will hit your fitness too badly.
Correct me if im wrong please
What regt/corps are you joining Ayrey?
If you are going infantry, i would suggest you are as fit as possible. Fcuk everyone else, you dont want to stand out as being one of the weaker members of your platoon.
First week of training is gradual. You will have a hell of alot of information to absorb. You will have late nights and early starts. And we got thrashed alot, just to make us more tired.

Needles scare me, that has to be one of the off putting things.) Why does no one like them??
I was being put to sleep to have a tooth removed. And the stupid nurse missed the vein in my hand, so had to do it twice...
So I can't stand them since.
Don't even get me started on needles, very bad experience with them
I'm joining the Royal Signals, but I scored a 8:57 min 1.5 miler at RSC. I've been injured since and it looks like a long recovery at the moment, so I'm very concerned about the fitness requirements for basic. I start basic in a few weeks, so not long to get myself sorted out, although saying that, everything I'll be needing during basic is packed and ready
I've been reading a few diaries about basic and not one of them mentions any fitness tests, but on the army careers website, it clearly states there are. Could some elaborate on whether a fitness test is held at the beginning of basic and what it involves?

theres nothing to fear with needles,
unless you get a small briar on the needle end which can elevate the pain as the needle is pushed into the skin, that hurts a tad, and NO medics dont scrap the needle along rough surface prior to jabbing people they dont like....thats just a vicious rumour
Only did it once for farks sake! God will it live with me forever!!!!
Ok whos nervous now
only joking
