There seem to be a lot of people given wrong advice everywhere. I did my RCB main board very recently. For push ups, you have to do a maximum of 44 in 2 minutes ie once you've done 44 you stop. Make sure you do all 44, and preferably in one go, though its not necessary. You can probs pass by not ...

Light Division

Just wondering if anyone could clear up a few things for me. I know the light division consists of LI and RGJ. How are these two regiments distinct then from armoured infantry or mechanised infantry batallions; is it just the vehicles/kit they use, or are they used for different purposes or is it ...

Don't knock uni. It's quality. And if the army has to be your only life then join OTC or TA at the same time. Fair play though, it's not for everyone.

nah, its 8ft. I don't back the run up technique if its wet, your foot just slips right down. Better to focus and just jump straight up without run. But if it's dry, or your just hard then don't stop, it wastes time. But make sure whatever you do it. The guys who didn't on mine felt little

Yeah, I passed very recently! :D
Basic fitness test is the first thing that happens. You have to do:
44 pressups in 2 minutes
50 situps in 2 mintes
Get 10.2 on the bleep test.

Was expecting them to the pass score, but in fact they're maximums, so it's not that difficult. To impress I would say do ...

Just a note on RCB...

I did my briefing this week, expecting it to be no probs. Got a cat 1, but it was a lot more difficult than I or anyone expected it to be. Its not about A*s etc, quite a few people had degrees from good unis and screwed it on the comp tests (which are verbal reasoning ...

Blimey! Good info, thanks again Pasha. Think a commision with the Gurkhas would be second to none. Although you'd need to do some serious self assessment to see if you deserved the honour, they deserve the best Officers. If i get in, gonna seriously consider it.

Pasha you legend. Keep coming on the info, sounds quality, although i'm sure pretty different to most commissions. I encountered a few of them in the far east, they were impressive. And if you can't be arsed to put all the info you've got down, if you could point me in the right direction ...

James,

I do agree with you that the tone of this website seems to have a strong bias towards paras and marines. This is demonstrated by there being a whole forum dedicated to the paras, which is obviously only one regiment of the British Army.

I've really considered paras too, but trying not to ...

Ok, wasn't meaning to cause tears. Just v. difficult to get any sort of knowledge on the regiments from the outside, or if all are looked upon as equal(yeah, right). Websites are vague and diplomatic for obvious reasons. Any regiment can give you reasons why they are really good, but to those not in ...

Ok, harsh but (seemingly)fair.

But there must be a few with widely acknowledged good reputations, no?
