I've just been checking out The Alternative Womens' Institute Calendar, which is the basis for Flo's idea, on
www.daelnet.net/rylstonewi .
They raised £600,000, and their story is being made into a film; released this year!
Now there's a challenge!

More questions I'm afraid! Chatting to a photographer, and he says the guys taking the photos will need to know if the calendar will be in profile, landscape, or square? Something to do with formatting the 'pose'. Also, approximately what size will the photos be when they are in the calendar?
I'm sure there will be more questions, but at least it keeps this at the top!
Aye, Derek
Doh, for 'profile' read 'portrait'.

Right lets get down to the 'bare' nitty gritty.
First we need a theme for this venture, which can be topical though should have a fun theme.
Next we need to have volunteers submit their phots for short listing, though these should be to fit in with the chosen theme.
Once the list has been prepared then we enlist the help of a professional phot.
Whilst this is taking place we start to find sponsors for the callander, newspaper, companies, individuals, etc. This is not a cheap item to produce.
Then the sales arm needs to be well oiled and outlets found.
So ideas on a card please to Blue Peter.

Sorry a good one would be to use the ellements of training and instead of one face, have many with the focal point being one person.
So we could have the assault course, the parade ground, tarzan course, ranges, endurance course, 30 miler, etc. etc.
Always wanted to turn up for parade with nothing but a peaked cap and rifle.

Twelve months is twelve phots, smaller phots could be added either side of the calender block for each month to increase the number. Some of these might include detail which is "too small to be seen properly" if you get my drift. Rob Parry in the shower, for instance
On a serious point, a decision needs making as to whether or not to get in bed with a national daily and take a cut of profits, or go it alone and take the much higher costs.

Further to that, what about a website for the phots that don`t get used

Aye,
Harry, this was mentioned in an earlier thread, but thought to be better if we kept the daily`s out, so as to make more coin for the relevant funds, Personnaly, I`d have gone with a national, you even get free publicity

I see you are a 'Printer'. Any chance you could help Bootneck out in his quest to find a Printing firm that will do us a good job producing the Memorial Calendar?

thought about writing to all the unit charlie oscars, inviting them to be part of this, also sticky, where is Brig "Bronco" Lane, these days, I want him to give this his blessing too, if you could help on that one mate, just tell him the comedian who roller hauled him up the rock face at about thirty MPH wants to get in touch, that should get him going. Re what Ratso said, many people, but home in one one face, (the unit r sole) that rules me out, I`m no longer in a unit, and as well as various TQ`s/SQ`s different units, maybe our friends from Poole could pose as well, with the standard issue Brown paper bag on their heads, ok, make that two, just incase one falls off

GULP, Suggest we have a chat in the chatroom, (where else) weekend? all up for it, say AYE!!
