'Royal Marines Alternative Calendar'

Post by flo »

Well boys, what started of as a bit of a joke looks like it is going to happen. We need to decide what form this calender is going to take:-

a) A mixture of former Royal and Serving
b) former Royal
c) Serving Royal
d) A mixture of at work and at play
e) semi clothed with strategically placed items

or any other ideas.

We also need serious volunteers to participate. This callender will be raising funds for a memorial to those who lost their lives during the recent conflict and will also be good PR for the FVF.

If anyone is interested please get in touch or leave a message.

Flo, great stuff.

'Couple' of questions:

Is the memorial only for those RM who lost their lives?

Who will design and make the memorial?

Where will it be situated, and who will maintain it?

I am sure El Prez would agree to be in a photo consisting of serving and ex-Corps helicopter pilots. After all, we are the gorgeous elite, and guys are always trying to pull birds by telling them they are Helicopter Pilots! I did, and it worked, twice!

I personally feel that any funding raised should be be used towards a memorial for RM, after all this website and those planning to raise money are either serving or former RM. But on saying that if anyone feel differently we could put it to a forum vote. I think that any memorial should be placed in the parade square at Stonehouse barracks that way it will be maintained by Royal for Royal. Lets get the fundraising underway before we (the forum) decide on what kind of memorial we would like to see in place. Are you putting your name down?

Flo

I'm happy to put my name down, but wary about doing the same with my trousers! :o Not a pretty site at my age.

Just thinking; as Yeovilton isn't too far from where you are, and that's where the Royal Marines Helis are, a photo of the guys in front of an armed Lynx, with only their flying helmets on, but a rotor blade in the appropriate place! Is that the sort of thing this calender is all about?

I'll help in any way I can, as I still have a contact in the Squadron.

Regards, Derek

Outstanding effort

Post by Oakers »

Good effort Flo, I'd quite happily do anything that was required for a cause such as this. Doesn't matter what it is you dream it up and I'll crack it. Fundraising for the Corps is fast becoming my mainstream pastime at the moment so It'd fit in just nicely. I've got mates at Stonehouse who'd want to get involved as well in whatever if you want them Flo?

Cheers

Ahoy there Flo!
Sounds like fun. Give me a bell.
I live about a stone throw from NMC. I suspect that I probably know your Tommy Gun.

Flo

I think that's a yes from El Prez! (Repayment for volunteering me for the Yomp!)

As we are hoping to do a 'Heli Pilots' month, how about each Branch doing a month each.

Last time I was at Lympstone, the Staff PTIs we saw all looked like the Chippendales! I couldn't get Steph and Claire out of the gym!!

'Heavy Weapons' should be able to produce a 'suitable' group, and so on.

Sticky could do one entitled, 'The Banned of Her Majesty's Royal Marines!

Is that a violent 'clucking ' noise I hear Sticky?

Pith Helmets and boots, with the instruments placed strategically should spare everyone from :o

Clarinets and flutes etc are excused, but saxophones, bass drums and guitars etc are 'safe'. As for your 'staff', that should be wide enough surely, and undoubtedly long enough!

Is that a YES?
