I will be, and will especially be watching the British Sailing teams, as I work for the olympic sailing team (damn them! All of the Athletes (obviously) and support staff got to go to Athens except me and another person....we both have to stay in the office and keep the olympic sailing team running from home!).
From what I have seen at the trails for the British track and field team we will be lucky to get any thing, most of them have not even reached the qualifying times. Now if they can't get the qualifying times then why are they going to Athens, well it will be a nice holiday for them.
I will definitely be watching the Olympics.
I love watching the track events, long distance running, gymnastcic and swimming.
Also, I am looking forward to any controversy waiting to happen to entertain us
I wouldn't mind working for the IOC. Then again.... after watching that panorama doc... maybe not. What a bunch of greedy, randy, geriatric rambos they are with all those freebies they get just to give a vote. I mean why the hell do they need viagra and cosmetic surgery for ??? :
If the alternative is Corrie Street or EastEnders then I might be FORCED into watching the steroid humanoids in action, but if Military Forums hasn't been wiped off the face of planet Earth, then I shall be here.
I wont watch all of it, but I'll try and keep up dated with what's going on. But I will be watching Great Britons one and only Boxer at the Olympics. He's a 17 year old and he will be fighting blokes twice his age, so that will be good to watch.
I fight for my corner and secondly I leave when the pub closes. - Winston Churchill

You have my sympathies. I have an inkling of what you must be feeling. My father has sailed Stars and Etchells since he was a teenager and he is a measurer for the Stars. He and my brother were on the Star measuring team behind the scenes down at Rushcutters Bay at Sydney 2000 Olympics. From the stories he tells, I gather it is pretty much the experience of a lifetime. Its not the celebrities and minor Eurpoean royalty that washes through either, but meeting and talking to sailors from all over the world, and communicating in the international language of the brotherhood of the sea, even though they have no other language in common. My Dad was born in Riga and has not been back since the war, so meeting the Latvian team was one of the highlights for him. Anyway this is probably making it worse for you so I'll stop. Maybe you'll get to go for 2008?
Who do you rate as the best chances in your team? Ours are probably Colin Beashel and David Giles in the Stars and Darren Bundock and David Forbes in the Tornadoes.
I probably wont be able to make the 2008 games as I have just joined the Marines. To have been part of it has been a great experience. I never thought I would get to work and interact with the sailors/athletes.
For medals, I reckon we have a few.....obviously Ben Ainslie in the Finn then there is Iain Percy and Steve Mitchell in the Star and Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield in the 470.
We have a few others who could come close, fingers crossed for all of them.

I'll keep an eye out for them. Although they never televise enough of the sailling. I am pretty disillusioned with the other sports because of the drug cheating. Look at the Australian cycling team at the moment. Feel like giving up on the whole lot of them. I reckon sailing must be the only clean sport there.
Mind you, I'd talk about sailing and pretend to love it if i got to go to greece for a month long party and some hot chicks.!!
I'll be watching the first week for the Judo, Then it's just a case of hoping to turn the telly on for the womens gymnastics coz i can't mark the tv pages in case i get caught and called a perv!
