non-commisioned and a commisioned. just one of them things that the dictionary confuses the hell out of me with. lol there goes my dream of being in the RAF

About £10000 a year :wink:

None of these hold a commission warrant from the queen
Ordinary rank: Marine, Airman, Sailor, Soldier, Trooper, Signalman etc
Junior Non-Commissioned Officer: Corporal, Leading hand
Senior non-commissioned officer: Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Colour Sergeant
Senior non-commissioned officers (these hold a Royal Warrant from the Queen): Warrant Officer 2, Warrant Officer 1

Officers (These hold the Queen's Commission): Lt, Capt, Maj, LtCol etc
Drums beating, colours flying and bayonets fixed...

A large piece of paper with old fashioned writing saying the Queen has appointed you to be an officer. Lovely piece of kit, mine is framed and hangs on the wall. :D :oops:

does the queen or someone important present it or is it more of a tradtional thing where it means more than it is?

and what rank did you reach chunky? in SAS and before/after?

lol slow down abit here. so on my application form i shall be ticking non-commisioned if i wanna be a telecomms operator in the RAF.

how many roughly get given a year? maybe a little cermony would be better once a year for all new warrant officers and such like?

As sticky says it is ceremonially pushed through your letter box in a plain cover and a second class stamp.

When I left I had passed my Captains exam and was waiting for my third pip.

Do not believe the rumours that I left just before promotion to avoid a hefty bar bill !! :oops: :oops:

I read one of our officers Commission Certificates today... I think the bloke who wrote them didn't have a full stop on his confuser!
Interesting read... signed by Second Sea Lord, HM Queen and Minister for Defence. I nearly fell over at how complictaed it was. No txt spk though :wink:
