Hello from Australia. My story.
Ive been in the ADF for just over 4 years. Ive got less than 2 years to go on my fulltime contract. When I discharge I HAVE to do 5 years in the inactive reserves. Will this make me ineligible for the British Armed Forces? Even though I don't have to turn up to work at all I just stay on the books for 5 years.
Also Ive recently read that unless you have lived in the UK for a period of 5 years you are no longer eligible to enlist. But Irish citizens are excluded. I hold duel Irish Citizenship but have never resided in Ireland. Does this exempt me from the new conditions of enlistment?
I've phoned the recruiters in the UK several times, all I got was a hefty phone bill and no real definitive answers.
I'm hoping to apply for the Parachute Regiment.
Cheers.

Max,
Try the 'Live Chat' option, perhaps cheaper than a phone call.

Re: G'day!
I finally got that to work and they confirmed my fears. I will have to wait until I'm completely inactive. Ill be near the cut off age for enlistment. Does the MOD grant waivers for people with previous military experience? Also what is the age limit for special forces selection in the UK?Rover wrote:Max,
