The project Graffiti of War is collecting pictures of "art" made by service members on deployment. That kan be anything from a painting on a T-Wall to a scribble of thoughts in a portajohn. We would love to make this an international project, because the Americans are not the only ones who have been deployed. It would be great if we could include some of the art made by British troops.
Although most civilians support the brave men and women who serve in the military, they don’t grasp the magnitude of what affect this conflict, these deployments have on the families and on the mind and soul of the soldier. In documenting images created by soldiers, marines, and airmen, our aim is to give a unique glimpse into the minds of these warfighters. To give the civilians an inside look at what has gone almost entirely unseen to the vast majority of the public. Many of these images are raw and created in the moment on unconventional canvases in a very unconventional war. This art, this emotion on canvas will help civilians understand what it is to be separated from family, to lose one of your own in a blink of an eye, to get a feel, a taste of what several months fighting a very unpopular war is like. We want to bridge that divide between the two, we want to bring back the empathy that is lacking for these men and women, and empathy is an emotion that requires understanding, which is our mission. To bring understanding to the public not familiar with the emotions of war.

Looking for pictures of Military Art during deployments
Re: Looking for pictures of Military Art during deployments
Hi all!
In addition to the "art" made on walls we are now also looking for the art made on skin.. Military/war tattoos!
A book centered around the tattoos of our armed service members. The Graffiti of War Project is creating a book showcasing the "skin graffiti" of our brave warfighters. The mission is by using the world's facination with Skin Art to raise awareness about the struggles of our warfighters suffering from the silent wounds of war, PTSD.
We are creating a website, http://www.warfighters-ink.com/, dedicated to this project, but you can also take a look at www.facebook.com/#!/warfighters.ink
Thanks for reading!
