Nickname for SAS/SBS
Hi,
Do the SAS and SBS have nicknames for each other's unit..? How would they refer to each other informally..?
Cheers.

Re: Nickname for SAS/SBS
Sorry, I should clarify...
It was essentially one question: If a bunch of SAS troops were talking to each other, how would they refer to the SBS, if they were talking about them (collectively)? (eg Frogmen?)
And vice-versa?

Re: Nickname for SAS/SBS
Colloquially the SBS are often referred to a 'bubble heads', 'canoe drivers' or 'underwater knife fighters'.
My contacts with SB tell me that they called the SAS 'Desmonds', as in Desmond Tutu (22). I have also heard them referred to as 'flat heads'.
In common use, the SBS are sometimes just called 'Poole' and the SAS 'Hereford' and both are affectionately known as 'the Lads'.
I'd be interested to hear of any others, as I have a friend who works with both.

SAS = Blades
SBS = Shakies (as in Shakey Boat Service)

When myself and 39 other people got the Iranian Embassy job only six of us made it to the TV.
Our chiseled and hansome countanences were covered by those nasty black balaclavas.
But I can tell you that we were chiseled and hansome(Well the six of us were)
