Whick fiction books to read Andy McNab or Chris Ryan ?
Hi everyone,
Its been ages since I've been here. Hope you all are ok.
I wonder if you can advise me here. I have been reading too many chick classic books and now want to read a fast paced fictional action book with interesting locations. If there is a heroine in it thats a bonus but not necessary. Hope you get my drift
I can't make my mind up whether to buy a McNab or Ryan book. I don't mind picking one from each author just to see what they are like. Does anyone have any good recommendations ?
Also which author do you prefer and why ? Just am curious to know what their difference in their stories and writings are, as they were in the same miliatry unit
P.S
Any other authors I should explore as well ?
.
Cheers !

Hello Marina,
Not many of the 'old' members still around, just look in from time to time.
Try this link for an interesting read.

Thanks for the link Rover,
Its abit strange not seeing the regulars around, I hope I do bump into them.
BTW, there are so many similar books out there, some which are rubbish, so want to read the good ones.
Cheers

Marina, their are loads of great books around that are not fictional but well worth a read, have you thought of reading some Modern Mil Autobiographies?

Hi timex,
Sorry, very late in replying your post
I am exploring those as well, the autobiography of General Mike Jackson sounds very interesting. Whenever, he was on the news being interviewed, I liked the way he answered tough questions and he seemed to be such a genuine person.
Have you got any recommendations ? Many thanks

Many thanks mate !
P.S
I have ordered Apache by Ed Macy, its supposed to have rave reviews. My friend, she never ever reads military, she recommended it and she came across by accident after her husband read it and she was glued to it.

Apache is a good book, you could also try Chickenhawk or Low level hell both books are about Vietnam Helicopter Ops.
Or this as an alternative to modern wafare, very good read

Hello guys,
just a question about McNab's books: if any of you have read Immediate Action, it is described a major siege with hostages in Liverpool, late '80s, at the Israeli Trade Commission, at which the SAS (and McNab) plays an important role in freeing the hostages. However, after some research I cannot find on the Internet a single source/article about the event.
My question is: you guys from the UK (I'm Italian) actually know that this siege took place in reality? Or it is just fictional?
Thank you so much!

Hi,
First into action is one of the best books i have ever read, you can pick a copy up for as little as £3 on amazon probably even cheaper on Ebay.

First into Action sounds very interesting, will check it out on Amazon.
Just understand what is said, it was a real life event correct ? Has there been a film on it yet or not like 'Strike Back' which I enjoyed very much
