7.62*39 Vs 5.56*45

Post by Ares-God of War »

i was watching Future Weapons and i dont understand which bullet is better. he says the 7.62 has more kinetic energy and therefore better at taking down targets. however later he says that the 5.56 is better as it tumbles and causes internal damage as the 7.62 just passes through. which one is better? :-?

please help to solve my problem

Horses for courses.

5.56 being smaller will have less momentum, therefore shorter range and lower penetration.
7.62 the reverse.

There are other factors (such as the tumbling that you mention), but I understand these two to be the foremost.

So both are as good as each other at take downs :2gunfire: i was thinking since 7.62*39 is the same width as the SLR and GPMG round it may be more powerful and therefore increase damage

Yes over a given range it would indeed cause more damage.
