I am still filling in the paperwork for my TA application. I'm well aware that training has been halted for 6 months, which is fine, as it'll probably take that long to have my paperwork done, interviews done etc.
I'm keen to know about the vetting process. Is there a credit check done?
I have a fairly poor credit history, and would not like this to affect my application in any way. Or, is it just a CRB check?

Well, I have a loan which will be paid in full in March ... but that's it. Hopefull it won't effect my application. No dependants, no other debtHRH wrote:I never had a credit check, but in the application form they do ask you if you have any debt/dependants etc
Cheers for the reply HRH

Hi,
Debt if very high can be an issue for all service personnel, the thinking being it could leave you susceptible to bribery etc! (you'll see a video on it, honestly!) Doubtful your credit history will cause you a problem.
Good observation on fitness. Running 3 times a week, 3 or 4 miles would give you a good start to build on. Gym is just a bonus if you use one. People can blag it with little fitness, but the fitter you are the easier it is, and the less likely you'll get injured. But the standards for initial recruit training are very achievable.

Hi,
Ref, 6 months off for the TA.
I know some cap badges have asked their blokes to resign and reenlist, some are unaffected, some reducing training, some not paying for drill nights. Call your prospective unit and ask them what the score is.
For those canning it for six months, they will lose a lot of 'bounty hunters' and soldiers who realise a weekend with the missus isn't as bad as all that, so there will probably be a big recruitment drive in the spring!
Definitely for anyone wanting to join, don't assume you can't for six months.
