65 years ago on this day the Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy which eventually resulted in the end of the Second World War.
Thank you to all those who served and may all those currently serving come home safely.

D Day
Raised a glass last night, and am now watching channel 5 with a lump in my throat and glassy eyes lol
Just want to add my 3yr old sat next to me and sung the National Anthem with me (very very proud and slighty teary eyed Dad here)

ill always have time for people that have the time. i mean that from a modern point of view. without doubt the memory of these indestructable soldiers from the past should be on EVERYbodies card. ill ALWAYS appreciate and transfer their values to my own. MS164 when my little un hatches i hope to be in same boat! i hope my child appreciates what daddy done and also has the nouce to research a bit further. i did and i respect my old man of 22 years service even more so.

I just returned from the Normandy memorial at Colleville-sur-Mer which is the village above Omaha beach where 9000 US soldiers lost their lives.
The politicians kept their speeches short and respectful.
Having viewed the beach-head and spoken to some veterans I'm suprised so many survived.
I'm pleased I went alone as when"Taps"was played I just about lost it.
God Bless them and keep them.
