Band of Brothers

Post by just_me »

Late as I may be on this one (was first released in 2001 :o ) but I just finished the last episode yesterday and enjoyed it A LOT. Anyone who hasn't seen it really should consider it!

It's a 10 part (each part being roughly an hour long) 'film' by Steven Spielberg on the US 101st Airborne during WW2, from the Normandy beach landings to Germany itself. Although quite American (if you know what I mean  ) it is a good watch, definetly.

It is a great series.

Was suprised how many British actors were in it, though.

If anyone on here hasn't seen it, someone has uploaded every epsiode onto Youtube.

i love the episode the Replacements. It portrays the Dutch as I have heard many vets describe them. A hard working, clean and very supportive of our troops. One thing I liked was when one of the troopers lands he takes out his knife and cuts a piece of silk out. It is quick and you have to watch for it. T-Sgt. Nick Mansolillo told me that he did that for all three of his combat jumps. He had three boys after the war and carved paratroopers for each one of them and used the silk from each jump as the chutes for the figures. The practice of doing this was frowned upon by supply. You could be fined if you were caught.
