GCSE Grades?

Post by Waddy »

Hey guys

Been lurking around here for a while and thought I'd sign up!

Anyway, I am interested in joining the RAF as an 'Aerospace Systems Operator'. However I only have a grade D in Maths, not C. (I have the other necessary grades).

Is there anyway 'leeway' regarding qualifications?

Thanks in advance for any info :D

Don't know much about the job mate, but i'm thinking there may be a number of entry tests, and if maths is one of them and you ace that then you could possibly get in. Worse case is and if you want it enough enroll in an evening class at you local college or somewhere and get it that way.

Speak to your AFCO though mate to get a 100% answer!

Waddy,
Hyperlithe will give you the skinny as to what you need for the RAF.
She has been there and got the t-shirt.I'm sure she will be along shortly.
As a serving SNCO she will point you in the right direction.

Best,

Wholley.

not sure if the same same for your trade but when i did my AST recently i was told that you could go in with none of the qualifications needed but you just had to score higher on the test.. as i say not sure if this applys to your trade though i think alot of it may depend on how desperate they are for your trade, i,e if theres loads of applicants they can pick the best.

GCSEs

I know there are 2 kinds of entrant into the RAF UQ's and CQ's
UQ's are the Under Qualified and CQ's are Qualified and out of every 20 entering there are about 15 CQ's to 5 UQ's so getting that C grade will be a big help towards entry although it's not impossible.
