I have been struggling on what regiment to join. I intend to join the RE but I dont know what to specialize in yet. Does anyone have a list of all regiments that are RE and maybe some links about them or what they specialise in?
btw sorry if this sounds stupid ( i.e. like if RE is the regiment ect ) but i have to fill in my application and have yet to choose regiment and chosen jobs within RE.

advise on what regiment to join.
The Royal Engineers is a Corps not a regiment. There are a lot of jobs/trades, most people dont think to search the army mod site.

Time to focus your mind....... PLENTY of trades in the Engineers to choose from, it just depends what flicks your switch and where your skills lie..... Good with your hands? Or good with your brain? (Or BOTH?)
After a difficult search,
involving typing 'Trades in the Royal Engineers' into Google I've found the following: (difficult, this 'research' thing innit?
)
A lot of construction trades for example which will skill you up for the rest of your life for anything from a bit of DIY around the house, to getting a pretty decent job in civvy street:
MILITARY ENGINEER (BRICKLAYER AND CONCRETOR)
Responsible for many aspects of military construction including brickwork, scaffolding and concreting
MILITARY ENGINEER (CARPENTER AND JOINER)
Responsible for the manufacture and repair of building structures using timber and associated materials
MILITARY ENGINEER (BUILDING AND STRUCTURAL FINISHER)
Responsible for painting, plastering, tiling, glazing, dry-lining, floor-laying and scaffolding
MILITARY ENGINEER (HEATING AND PLUMBING)
Responsible for installing and maintaining essential systems, such as heating, gas and water
MILITARY ENGINEER (FITTER AIR CONDITIONING AND REFRIGERATION)
Responsible for fitting and maintaining environmental control and refrigeration units on operations and exercise
MILITARY ENGINEER (ELECTRICIAN)
Responsible for electrical power generation, distribution and installation works on operations and exercise
MILITARY ENGINEER (PLANT OPERATOR MECHANIC)
Responsible for driving, operating and maintaining the Army’s earthmoving and construction equipment
MILITARY ENGINEER DESIGN (CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TECHNICIAN)
Responsible for providing critical design information on materials to be used in construction tasks
MILITARY ENGINEER DESIGN
Responsible for providing design information to facilitate a variety of construction tasks
MILITARY ENGINEER (FABRICATOR)
Responsible for all aspects of making and repairing steel components for both military equipment and civil construction
MILITARY ENGINEER (RESOURCES SPECIALIST)
Responsible for the technical and administrative aspects of obtaining, controlling, maintaining and issuing the RE’s stores and equipment
Then there’s trades which are more directly involved in providing close support to the ‘Teeth Arms’
MILITARY ENGINEER (ARMOURED ENGINEER)
Responsible for driving, operating and maintaining Royal Engineers Armoured Fighting Vehicles, principally the Trojan and Titan
MILITARY ENGINEER (FITTER GENERAL)
Responsible for servicing, maintaining and the repair of military and civilian mechanical equipment
MILITARY ENGINEER COMMUNICATIONS
Responsible for the setting up, operation and maintenance of both voice and data field communications systems
..........Or, if you want to end up driving the CO around (AVOID AT ALL COSTS) you could end up in MT Section.... (spending half your time ferrying the CO, his wife, his kids and his family pets around to evening functions..... believe me, this can seriously fek up your weekends – I stood in for the CREs driver for a week at Div HQ.... never again!!)
MILITARY ENGINEER DRIVER
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of a wide variety of specialist vehicles in support of the Royal Engineers and other services
But if you’re REALLY brainy and are into computers in a big way, try the following:
MILITARY ENGINEER (GEOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN)
Responsible for the provision of geographic support to formation headquarters or as part of a Geographic Support Group
Several ‘trades’ or specialisms within the Geo trade ranging from Terrain Analysis roles to Field Survey, although the primary skill seems to involve knowing how to open Google Earth and press print. This skill demands a high band pay of course........Hoorah for tech pay.....!
On top of the above, you have RE Diver (I THINK it's still an RE trade/role?) and the para or commando sodjers
All that seems missing from the RE skillset is wearing silly red uniforms with big hairy hats and marching around the Queens house for the benefit of american tourists..........
