Chosen Man 2

Post by just_me »

Just come back from a week of an Rifles Insight course called the Chosen Man 2 (Still aiming to join Para Reg but my recruiter set me up on this aswell) and I would reccomend it to ayone hoping to joing the army, any job in it not nessecarily The Rifles.

We (London and Home Counties) stayed in a camp near Bulford (4 Rifles) and went up there the first 3 or so days and got a feel for the place and life in Battalion in general and then went to ITC Catterick for a quick look (Staying the night in Catterick Garrison, looking round and watching a Pass Out Parade the next day before leaving for the station) stopping off at ADSC Pirbright for a look and doing the Physical Tests there.

Will type up what we did a bit later if anyone's intrested but by all means it was a nice insight.

Yes mate it was today ask him if he saw about 70 guys watching him by the side! Shame was we didn't have enough time to watch the whole thing because of train times so we didn't get to see the whole thing which is something I really wanted to do.

As for Catterick it felt pretty massive to me, we had a tour so looked around the accommodation - the shabby ones not the new ones but as someone pointed out if it looks like new you have to keep it looking like that! I can't wait to get my training started now, the insight has confirmed that this is what I want to do.

One thing is that Catterick is pretty cold, and I was only wearing a shirt so I was freezing. But it definitely feels like a military training centre, lots of shouting, marching and stamping - generally the stuff you expect but I found it very sobering seeing it for real, it felt much more within reach than ever before but at the same time showed there is a lot of work to be done - if that makes sense!

As said earlier I will try and write out a description of what we did and my thoughts when I have a bit of time...if I can remember
