OK sorry if i'm wasting time, i'm not in the forces but joined this forum to find out more about fitness.
My strong point is running, although i'm late 40s I can do 6 miles plus every day no sweat.
Now at the end of my run i've introduced sit ups/ press ups.
Hard at first, but i've worked up to 5 sets x 12 each doing them properly (don't laugh!) after my run.
This is proving quite painful for me and I dread it as I am finishing my 6 miler!
Question is: say I do 60 press ups/ sit ups what gives most benefit ? 4 x 15, 5 x 12, 3 x 20, 2 x 30, or 6 x 10?
You lads can probably advise me. Please dont say 15 x 20!

Try searching this forum mate there's loads of stuff on press ups and sit ups. From my experience, doing plenty of sets of a certain amount is fine, but the best way to increase your max is.........to actually try and do your max,its not rocket science
Keep your routine if you like, but for example every weekend try and do the most reps you can, record your score, then do another 2 sets of your max til absolute failure, keeping good form throughout of course.
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour'
