AIB Betterment Suggestions
Hello, I thought I would create a topic instead of asking on a different thread about AIB betterment.
I have already been accepted for an AIB this year but I borke my leg on the POC so I have another year to wait until I can take the POC and AIB.
I am wondering and seeking advice for making myself more appealing to the AdmiralityBoard.
I have:
High School Diploma
College Diploma (general Arts & Science)
Bachlors Degree in Philosophy & Sociology with Minor in Relgion
I manage a restuarant
I travelled through Australia and Japan for a year
I travelled through Europe for 4 months
I play sports but nothing too fancy or super organised, just games of pickup.
I was thinking about volunteering, coaching a team, or something like that but before I commit to these things I want some advice from my informed family mfat.[/list]
Thanks in advance
Bell

Wow, a little sensitive Artist.
If I was EVER cocky to Wholley (or anyone) it was in honest debate, homour, or sincerity.
Secondly, how am I to know who has their green lid or not? Should I look into my crystal ball of prediction for whom to reply with 'respect'?
Cocky is far from dis-respectfulness so break out the lexicon and realize that my posts and replies are in all seriousness, or again humour.
I know, I should respect all people on mfat and for the most part I do. I reply in kind, and if you look at my posts you would see that.
I know your a Mod but I don't appreciate your words. Respect is a two way street MR. Artist. (regardless of barret, title, or worldly statues)
Half of this site is half-hearted jokes, sarcasim, and cockyness, and when I ask a serious question for help I don't need you putting in your condesnding sense on my psuedo cockyness or disrespect.
If I were commiting such levels of negativity I would understand your point but all your saying is dont have a laugh or be cocky with anyone that has a miltary title...
Please answer my post respectfully or just move on. I have witnessed worse things on this sight than my supposed 'cocky-disrespect' so look into these problems before wasting my time.

Are you seriously applying to be an RM officer? You can't spell, you can't string a coherent sentence together, and you may be the most defensive person in the entire world.lil_dinger_bell wrote:...homour...thier...steet...baret...sarcasim...condesnding...miltary...sight(site)...
If I were you I would re-read my posts before clicking the submit button. You do sometimes come across as unbelievably arrogant - something thats been noted on more than one occasion, so maybe theres some truth in it? I'm not having a go at you, just a bit of friendly advice.
Now I'll sit back and wait for your inevitable full-on ferocious counter attack...
(or you could take it on the chin like a mature, intelligent prospective Royal Marine Officer)

I agree with LostandFound, your spelling and your attitudes crap. If you want to be a royal then you’ve got to be able to take a bit of criticism on the chin. I’m in no position to say this as I haven’t got my green lid but cum on mate lighting up a bit eh. I for one wouldn’t want you to be my officer if your as arrogant and cocky as you seem.
Take Artists advice on board, its probably the best advice you could get just now.
Good luck

I appreciate your words of warning and advice, I truly do....when stated in a manner of advice I become quite acceptant
I never said my cockiness isn't a problem but I very rarely dis-respect anyone. (and that's when I get defensive)
And I am unfortunately a product of Microsoft word, who corrects my spelling for me. (no excuse)..so my deepest apologies for my poor spelling....and FYI, humour is how you spell humour in Canada, due to us being a half French nation.
I can take criticism just fine, but one gets a bit miffed when someone accuses them of something they truly don’t believe they have offended....cockiness yes, disrespectful no...and in fact I have been told by many a Royal that cockiness and an air of cocky-confidence IS a RM Officer attribute.
I wouldn’t dare say that to a Colours face, your right but that’s with me knowing full-well that he is a Colours. I don’t know who Artist is and usually don’t believe anyone that claims they’re this or that. I know he is a military man and I respect him for that but I personally don’t believe his reaction was warranted, regardless of how I come off.
Let him PM me with the warning of disbarment not add it to one of my posts where I was seeking real advice for my AIB betterment.
All of my posts have been my personal opinion, some based on fact, some based on personal belief, and most cocky, but none explicitly disrespectful. I would rather read a cocky mans posts then the plethora of racist posts which go un scalded.

During my time in the Corps I never met a Cocky RM Officer. I mostly met blokes with confidence, a good sense of humour, humility and the respect of the men they led or indeed led them. It works both ways you see. Also most of them from a new, just out of the box 2nd Lt to a General were quite willing to listen to their men when advice was offered regardless of the blokes rank giving said advice. It could be from the RSM or a Marine. If it helped then the advice was taken onboard.
Saying that, once in a blue moon (like any walk of life) you might meet an A1 barsteward. But they were a few and far between thank the Lord.
After having read your recent posts Mr Bell you do seem to be trying and you do seem to be honest when it comes to admitting your failings. A good traight to have. Tone down the Cockyness or replace it with Confidence and Humility and you should crack young officer training I reckon. I'm no angel as sometimes I tend to fly off the handle for no apparent reason such as my last post. My excuse is that "I'm an Owd Git!" and Owd Gits do that sort of thing.

Well I am truly sorry Artist, I am the type of person who can’t stand people being mad at him....a weakness I am sure. I will definitely watch what I say and more importantly how I say it.
Despite being in my mid twenties I still have an immaturity which could match the best of pre-schoolers. We all have our little idiosyncrasies and I believe mine may be by sense of abrasiveness.
This isn't a one-off for people at my job tend to say this from time to time also.
I am sincerely open to the advice of character building and criticism when justified so I again appreciate your words Artist (and others).
I will also throw my posts through my beloved Microsoft Word form now on!
- And thanks Ria, I appreciate your vouch
Until next time folks!

Well after looking at that I don't think I'll sleep tonight...
...hahaha, it should say handsome old bastard...
…I just threw up in mouth a little.
Did you know a (Dinger) A. Bell in your RM days? He was in from 69-79 about.
Thanks for haunting my dreams and putting a face to the name. I would upload a picture of me but I don't want to make anyone jealous with my British good looks and Canadian sensibilities....that and when I'm back in the UK I would prefer not receiving a punch in the cob from someone on this site that knows my real identity!
….that and I’m useless at uploading pictures onto this sight…..can’t even manage the avatars let alone big pictures of me with funny shirts.

Knew quite a few "Dinger" Bells in the Corps. One that sticks out in my mind was a Cpl Dinger Bell a (D) driver. Most laid back bugger you could hope to meet.lil_dinger_bell wrote:Well after looking at that I don't think I'll sleep tonight......hahaha, it should say handsome old bastard...
