Hi, does anyone have any information on the Aircrewman specialisation available to Marines? ie. the selection course, competitiveness in getting in, length of service usually required, a bit of detail about the role?
Thanks to anyone who replies.

Can apply as Mne but is a 2s trade, meaning you need to have the RoRRs to go on a Juniors first. Usually would apply as a Cpl or at least L/Cpl already. One of the toughest courses in the Corps by reputation, need to be very switched on and hoofing with maps. In demand and few places, so can be a bit of a wait. As to the role afterwards, can't tell you much more than door gunning and loadmastering on Sea Kings and CH-47s.

Acmn
One of my lads is going for this at the moment - I spoke to the C/Sgt at 848 and the WO (RN) who runs the grading at Shawbury and got the following dit:
Basic maths (i.e. STD and BODMAS needs to be shit hot) and spatial orientation are the two that are testing during your grading flights. The course is the best part of 6 months and then straight out to 845 or 846 as a sprog Acmn (Cpl though). They're doing 4 months about in Afg ATM, having just stopped doing 4 months about in Iq since 03; pretty high op tempo and not a lot of time at home.
They seem a friendly bunch, phone the MOD directory, ask for the crew-room and speak to a Cpl direct!!
