CIC/P-Coy has just changed and you do P-Coy, then CIC in a 2 week block. You will have to do the P-Coy section if you go through 4 Para. If you can't pass that you're "probably" not going to crack selection.Mikey101 wrote:I phoned 23 about joining without any previous service. They said that you have to have passed CIC before attempting selection. They normally arrange it with 4 PARA.
Does anyone know if you do P Company also?

Are the push ups "marine style" with the elbows tucked in and face forward? Or can you "cheat" stick elbows out and look at the ground?alfao wrote:Nope, was suprised myself.Steve14 wrote:what? no pull ups?alfao wrote:I've just done the 4 para insight w/e.
Requirements are
60 press ups 2 mins
60 sit ups 2 mins
1.5mile 9:30
If you are pretty close you will be fine.
They were not very specific on style. I did marine style because thats what i'm used to.
But, get this, you can rest on your knees at any time as long as you keep your hands on the mat! Pis3ed myself at that.
Sit ups are hands on chest, shoulders on mat, up to 90 degrees and back down. Easier than, imo, how the marines do theirs.
My only problem was that the warm up was almost non existant, including for the 1.5 mile run, warm down seemed pretty lame as well so do some more once you have finished. I train pretty much daily, but the day after this I was aching loads because of poor warming up/down.
They used to jog 1.5 out and then best effort 1.5 back in, but now you do a brief warm up, get driven out to the start and run back in. I think they would be much better off still running/jogging out, which would also give you an idea of the course for pacing.
