try and get your head arround this one!

Post by kiwimonster »

well. i applied for the army (reme) last year around august, i did my barb test, and sent my medical form of to my GP. then sent it to lichfield, because i had a small bad accident at work, and received treatment for it, my GP and put that down on the form and the medical wing and lichfield had said i was medically unfit to serve. they gave me a 3 month training programme that i had to complete with a diary and then send it to them to carry on my application, but because of family issues, i did get around to starting it. that was the last time i had hear from the army, until today when i decided i wanted to carry on with my application. so i went to the AFCO and they said that i was on a perm bar. which means i was rejected totally from the army, and i was sent a letter telling me this. i did not receive this letter at all. they said it was because of my back injury. but i received physio for the accident and was signed of as medically fir my the NHS physio. would this rejection from the army, affect my chances of getting into any other of the forces? has anyone else had this happen.

thanks

I had a bad back a while back. And went to the doctors for some painkillers ages ago,so it must be on the system. But i passed my medical.Basically,if they say do you have any injuries say no,i was asked to bend over touch the floor, bend back etc,and even though my back can hurt at times im quite felxible so much so the chap even commented on me being so. So i doubt he looked at any medical records mate,i think they only do if they have a suspicion of you being ill/injured. So lie lie lie lol!

thats the thing tho, i didnt tell them about my injury, it was my GP that writen it down on the medical form, why would i want to join the royal marines when i cant even get into the army, surely that the marines medical standards are way higher than the armys?

Well when i had my medical not too long the only reason they felt the need to right to my doctor to find out anything was because i said i had asthma when i was like 10,so they wanted to just confirm the dates. But if i hadnt of said that then he would of just said that i had passed there and then.Did you give them a reason to right away to your doctor?

they do it automatically, after you have done your barb test, they give you a medical form to hand into your GP, then you got to get it off him when he has completed it and sent it to the medical wing lichfield, their is no way of getting arround it, except bribery but that aint gonna work! the fitness levels for the marines are extreme tho arnt they, dont a lot of people get rejected for no reason.

ok, i have looked everywhere for info on RM training, it all confuses me, what will i have to do in selection (if its called that in the RM) what runs/marches/pressups/heaves/situps/etc will i have to do and in what time? what other things will i have to do? please give it to me how it is, dont dress it up to make it sound good like the army recruiters.
thanks.

When you do youe medical with the marines it's not done by your GP. My GP had no say in it until they found out i had a heart murmor. But if you pass it you should be fine.

I had a similar thing happen to me. However, it was the RAF that labelled me permenantly unfit for service, for a suspected nut allergy(which i don't actually have by the way!). I went to the AFCO and my army application has sucessfully gone through, including the medical. But I wouldn't listen to the guys who are telling you to lie- the Army checked my entire medical history until they were happy i was ok. It's gonna come out in the end, if u lie. I also heard of a case with the marines wher one guy lied bout his injury, the medical people found out about it, let him thru, then kicked him out after a year. apparantly they let him through in order to use him as an example, and deter others from trying the same. so don't do lie, you'll just lose all respect!
