I went to litchfield on selection last week and didn't pass on the run for one simple reason - inproper warm up's and cool down's. On the evening before the run the PTI had us running sprints untill he said stop, we had a 2 or 3 minute jog before hand but no stretches before or after so when i got up the following morning and due to a strained hamstring i could barely walk nevermind run and even before the 1.5mile all we did was jog 800m with no stretches.
I was just curious as to wether or not this has happened to anyone else or is this just the way the army does it?
Having been involved in sports all my life & taking several courses on caoching etc i know just how important it is to stretch before & after exercise and of course to warm up and cool down properly.
Any info would be very helpful on this matter!

Warm up, Cool down - Anybody else??
Sounds like you dipped out bigtime.
Next time ensure your ready for the "Warmups" by warming up. Was never in the Army I was a Bootneck (Royal Marine) but take it as read that warming up before you warm up is a good move on your part.
They are trying to find out just what you are made of so always try to keep one step ahead of the instructors by asking people who have been there or are in fact there already all about the pros and cons of the the way they treat recruits/wannerbies.
Because if you go there with your thumb up your bum & mind in neutral you will have problems regardless of what part of the Armed Forces you are joining.

You can hardly blame the training staff for failing. Could it possibly be you wern't quite fit enough?I went to litchfield on selection last week and didn't pass on the run for one simple reason - inproper warm up's and cool down's
Not having a digg but if you've prepared well enough then 1.5 miles wouldn't even be an issue warm up or not. Besides I wouldn't of thought there's time for a quick warm up down in sunny Afghan.
