21 sas
Just a quick question. Does 21 sas include oxfordshire, or would it be 23. If someone could clear this up for me that would be great.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Have a look at the below website.
Think you'd be under M3/4 Corridor, which as its in the south would be 21 I assume, but have a look at the map.

Banburyboy/Ed,
I can see from your earlier posts that you are a young lad (17?) interested in the RMR. My advice for you is to have a crack at that before you think about 21.
It's a simple fact o' life that very, very few straight civvies get through first time. They often pass the hills but get slaughtered early on in Continuation.
That said though i'm sure they are always keen to see new lads and will give you every chance.
As said above, depending on where exactly you are in Oxfordshire you'll be looking at Newport or Basingstoke. The numbers are available at army.mod.uk/uksf
Kind regards,
CS

Hello Mfat_man et al,
I realise the Quiet Soldier is oft-quoted as the unofficial guide to UKSF(R) Selection, but with respect it's factually a load of shiite (although i'll admit it's a cracking read!)
It's about 20 years out of date, claims a few disputable feats and tells a fair few porkies. Fair enough it may give some a flavour, but it also scares more lads off than attracts them or helps them.
Best thing to do is give your friendly local Sqn a bell and turn up (Not you though mate as you're probably too old and/or wise ).
Regards and good night.

As we're recommending books on the subject, may i suggest:
The Idiots Guide to Selection by May Pheethurt, and
Continuation for Dummies by Doug Biggoles.
and for the wannabie shakies:
MCT in a Nutshell by Bob Onnawave.
I'm here all week

Hello CS,
Found your book list very interesting
I went down to my local Waterbourns book shop to look for 'Three Men in a Boat' but with no luck, seems I should have gone to the Quey book shop instead.
But I did come across one that I would recommend prior to reading
MCT in a Nutshell by Bob Onnawave.
Paddling for Beginers by Phil Lipper.

Meister,Meister asked:
What is the emphasis on during Continuation, if most civvies seem to fail it?
It's just basic fieldcraft and small-team infantry tactics to a high standard.
Civvies tend to fail as they are too busy concentrating on the immediate things (staying warm & dry, not looking like a mong) and are therefore struggling to pick up the additional SF-ish knowledge and skills. Hence why a much higher proportion get in second time round.
They are looking for compatibility, maximum effort and a sense of humour.
